Position Summary
Beatrice Concrete Company is looking for a highly motivated individual who directs production, distribution, and operations for the limestone mining plant and be able to meet the demands of a 12 hour per day, 5.5 day a week operation and continually balance the competing needs of maintenance and production and safety.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.
Manages and develops personnel to assure production activities and priorities for products are developed and maintained according to effective operations and cost factors.
Coordinates production activities with management, sales, procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
Establish production and quality control standards, and manage quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
Coordinates storage and placement of materials and product with yard personnel.
Develops maintenance plan and guidance procedures for maintenance program.
Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems.
Reviews production costs and product quality, and modifies production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of the operation.
Revises production schedules and priorities as a result of equipment failure or operating problems and inventory requirements.
Coordinate and supervise any alterations in plant design. Estimates and develops costs for major repairs and renovations to the operation. Consults with consultants or engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products
Provides up-to-date status on support or production activities to appropriate parties.
Confers with customers and representatives of associated industries to evaluate and promote improved and expanded services in area. Provides sales support, scheduling and customer service skills for competing and diverse requests.
Maintains all regulatory, safety, and environmental compliance and reporting requirements. Guides and enforces safety and environmental programs and procedures.

Supervisory Responsibilities
The position supervises employees who are typically machine operators and other personnel from the plant which include rock drillers, blasting personnel or vendors, haul truck operators, plant operators, loader operators, scale operators, and other general equipment operators and labor.
Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Position Requirements and Education
- Two year certificate from college or technical school; or six months to one year job related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous management experience preferred with emphasis in managing labor pools, scheduling production, maintaining quality control standards, maintaining raw materials.
- Preference is given to incumbents with previous electrical and mechanical experience.
- Must have exceptional people management skills. Ability to read blueprints would be helpful.
- Ability to operate multiple pieces of heavy machinery such as a loader, skid loader, motor grader, and crane is necessary.
- Background in mining or heavy construction is helpful.
- Maintain MSHA Miner certification.
- Must obtain a valid Explosive Use Permit from the Nebraska State Patrol. Able to qualify as the responsible person for Explosives for the ATF.
- The position is in Beatrice, NE and incumbent will be required to be "on-call" to respond to emergency situations day or night.
