GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Promoting safety of members, quality programs, and positive appearance of the Club at all times. Provide positive guidance, discipline and role modeling to members at all times. Plan, organize, and implement a range of program services within the 5 core areas and provide program reports as needed. Participate in staff meetings as directed by the Program or Unit Director. May participate in special initiatives and events. May be required to drive the Club vans. Multiple club locations are hiring for flexible shift hours between 7:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Monday through Friday.

MAJOR DUTIES AND SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES (Inclusive, but not limited to):

  • Promotes safety of members, quality programs, and positive appearance of the Club at all times.
  • Provides positive guidance, discipline and role modeling to members at all times
  • Plans, organizes, and implements a range of program services within the 5 core areas and provides program reports as need.
  • Promotes and stimulates program participation, recruits new members, and participates in new member orientation process
  • Participates in staff meetings as directed by the Program or Unit Director
  • May participate in special initiatives and events
  • May be required to drive the Club vans
  • Performs others duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required as well as actively attending some post-secondary education training
  • Working knowledge of specific content areas (core program areas) 
  • Experiential knowledge required and academic knowledge preferred regarding the physical, cognitive, emotional and social needs of children from kindergarten to high school age
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Skills in fostering youth development, through encouragement, engagement, involvement and emotional support
  • Understanding of human relations, leadership and problem solving
  • Spanish language skills highly preferred, but not required
  • Proficient in computer skills and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to earn mandatory CPR and first aid certification
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write and speak persuasively
  • Able to interact well at various levels of the organization, as well as work with a wide variety of people and personality types
  • Ability to be flexible and to adapt to changing priorities
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to work with multiple projects concurrently, prioritize workload, and consistently meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with a high degree of accuracy
  • Self-starter with a high degree of initiative
  • Ability to work well independently and as a member of teams
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships 
  • Positive and professional attitude and demeanor
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of donor information
  • Valid Iowa State Driver’s License and a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Ability pre-employment drug screen


RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club professional staff, members, and families to interpret and explain organizational mission, program objectives and standards, discuss issues, and provide/receive information. Demonstrates an attitude of accountability in carrying out the actions necessary to achieve the goals and objectives of BGCCI.
