Position Summary

As our business development lead, your goal is to generate new business for Gardner Builders Duluth. You’ll be an ambassador of our team, our brand, and our hospitality as you find new opportunities and drive increased revenue. As a hospitality company, it’s not about what we build, it’s about how we build. We believe in the power of building authentic relationships and you’ll be held accountable for living out our approach to authenticity, empathy, and humility. You’re a seasoned business development professional with experience in the commercial construction industry. You’ll partner with the Leadership Team, marketing, and your local team members to analyze the market, develop and deliver on strategic goals, and implement new ideas. You’re goal-oriented, forward thinking, and committed to results. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Deeply understand and embrace company values, mission, vision, and philosophy. 
  • Build market position by locating, developing, defining, and closing business relationships.
  • Understand and interpret client needs, requirements, and expectations. 
  • Provide market feedback to the Leadership Team regarding competitive offerings, prospect needs and generate relationship development ideas.
  • Discover and explore business opportunities. 
  • Partner with marketing team to plan and oversee new marketing initiatives. 
  • Screen potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, and financials.
  • Close new business deals by coordinating requirements, develop and negotiate contracts, and integrate contract requirements with business operations. 
  • Drive increased revenue and profit to achieve company’s ambitious growth.
  • Maintain critical relationships with key accounts & stakeholders.

 

Qualifications Required:

  • 5-10 years of professional business development or related experience (seller-doers welcome!)
  • Experience generating revenue in a construction related business
  • 10+ years within the commercial construction industry preferred

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Experience in working with senior management to align sales/business development strategies and solutions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to cultivate and nurture relationships
  • Goal oriented, forward thinking, and proactive mindset 
  • Excellent negotiation skills, proven track record of successfully pitching for new business
  • Strong track record of increasing revenue through generation of leads
  • Ability to manage multiple leads and projects at once
  • Ability to analyze data and adjust strategic plans 
  • Ability to thrive under pressure 
  • Ability to close on deals to generate new business & new business relationships
  • Strong follow through and attention to detail
