Summary

The Distribution Center positions are responsible for ensuring that material is readily available to send to branches.  These positions must accurately and safely receive and store materials, maintain good housekeeping, as well as picking and packing orders for pickup and delivery to branches, ensuring Coburn’s exceptional standard of customer service. DC workers and drivers must also follow all company policies, procedures and Distribution Center Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Education & Experience

High School diploma or equivalent preferred OR 2 years of experience in related industry, and the successful passing of the company issued aptitude test.

Must possess basic computer skills and the ability to read a map and/or follow written directions.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs.; must have physical mobility and dexterity to frequently stand, bend, push, twist, kneel, climb, squat, stoop, and reach overhead.  Routinely drives/operates forklifts; works with tools, and equipment.  Considerable mental/visual concentration, coordinating manual dexterity with mental/visual attention.  Construction and Warehouse environment with variable but moderately high noise levels.  Must wear closed-toe shoes, gloves, and other protective items as required. Work outdoors in varying weather conditions. A consistent presence at work is required.

Must pass company required drug screen and physical.

Age & Licensing Requirements

Non-CDL Drivers:  Drivers of vehicles that are transporting material intrastate[1], with a GVWR of 26,000 pounds or less are required to be a minimum age of 21 years old and licensed as follows:

Texas– personal driver’s license.
Mississippi & Tennessee- Class D license

Louisiana – Chauffer’s license (Class D) with medical card.

CDL Drivers:  A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required for drivers who operate vehicles that cross the state line (interstate) in a company-owned vehicle, or who operate vehicles with a GVWR of 26,001 pounds or more.  CDL drivers must be a minimum age of 25 years old.

In order to operate a forklift, the operator must be a minimum age of 18 years old and successfully complete Coburn’s Forklift Operator Certification.

Receiving

All physical items are matched to the packing slip and material is checked in within the same day that it is received, with no injuries, near misses or damaged product.

Stocking

On the same day the material arrives it is safely placed in the proper place (bin/ shelf) where pullers can easily gather for shipping with no injuries, near misses or damage to inventory.

Pulling/Checking/ Confirming

Correct material is pulled, checked and confirmed in a timely and safe manner and staged in the appropriate area with no injuries, near misses or damaged product.

Shipping

The correct material is prepared for delivery with the proper documentation in a manner that is timely, free of injuries, near misses & damage to the product.

Delivery

Deliver order accurately and timely to the correct customer location in a safe manner while maintaining Coburn’s exceptional level of customer service with no injuries, accidents, near misses or damaged material.
