General Summary of the Position: CEMENT MASON FOREMAN (CONCRETE)

Reports To:  Project Superintendent

  • Responsible for the supervision and training of crews for all required tasks included in highway and bridge construction. 
  • Supervise and perform related tasks preparing the surface, setting forms, placing wet concrete, and properly finishing the concrete as required by the project. 
  • Maintaining compliance with company policies and accurately reports daily activities. 

Essential Functions

  • Properly use tools needed to finish wet cement, tools may include shovel, float, bull float, broom, rake, etc.
  • Fine grade fill to grades given by foreman.
  • Assist in patching asphalt with hot and cold mix. Excavate and fills trenches and ditches.
  • Assist in moving, placing, striping various formwork.
  • Maintain a clean job site: pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
  • Material handling and storage.
  • Load and unload trucks and haul and hoist materials.
  • Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. 
  • Accurately record and report daily activities including crew hours, daily production, materials used and project issues.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Some knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in heavy/highway construction work.
  • Knowledge of first aid and applicable industry safety precautions.
  • Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
  • Computer Proficiency & industry program knowledge.
  • Ability to meet schedule with dependability and consistency.
  • Willingness and ability to effectively lead and train crews.
  • Ability to effectively use various technology including but not limited to cell phones, tablets, laptops and related software.

 Work Conditions

  • Construction Site Environment-Physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach.

 Special Requirements

  • Required to be able to pass drug and controlled substance tests prior to and during employment. 
  • Have a clean driving record and ability to drive various trucks.
  • Must possess, complete and/or maintain all certifications and training necessary to perform position.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean MVR is required.
