Occupational Health Nurse (Internship)

ROLE:

Intern assists in providing general patient care, manage medical records, and schedule and complete health screenings. This intern will also assist in educating workers about various medical conditions, aiming to encourage better health and well-being by providing advice and emotional support.

RESPONSIBILITES/DUTIES:

  • Maintain employee medical files and records
  • Incident investigation- Collect information and submit injury/illness investigation reports
  • Assist with the stocking and ordering of supplies
  • Frequent cleaning of office and treatment room in prevention of spread of viruses
  • Coordinate and/or administer annual health testing; respiratory questionnaire; PFT; vision test, hearing test; vital signs; weight; and follow up on hearing losses
  • Comply with OSHA regulations
  • Be able to participate in monthly Safety, Health Services and Emergency Responder meetings.
  • Work with the company on compliance with regulations and laws affecting the workplace:
    • Hearing conservation
    • Blood borne pathogen
    • Respiratory program
    • New hire orientation
    • Industrial hygiene

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current CPR/AED certification
  • Currently enrolled in a LPN/RN nursing program
  • Be enrolled in post-high school education for the Fall 2021 semester
  • Minimum of 1 completed year in related field (preferred)
  • Be considered a full time student (12 credits or more)
  • Be 18 years or older
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Intermediate computer skills are preferred
  • Must be detail oriented, have ability to multitask and possess great interpersonal skills
  •
