Plant Manager - 1st Shift (Direct Hire)

An Industrial Metal Plating shop is looking for a detail-oriented, hands-on Plant Manager with focus on Quality to join our growing team. We want this individual to bring their best positive attitude daily to help enforce various processes. We do not have a revolving door with our staff so this individual must be in it for the long-term. We pride ourselves in continuous improvement, but it all starts with the right attitude. Statement of Responsibility

To manage the day-to-day operations of the facility to produce effective and efficient production and physical operation of the company. This position has a strong emphasis on Quality.

 

Reporting Relationships

  • Plant Manager (PM) directly reports to the Plant Operations Manager (POM) and the Quality Operations Manager (QOM).

 

Job Obligations and Responsibilities

This is a hybrid role with strong focus on Production and Quality.

  • Production: Ensure effective and efficient operations of production while achieving internal objectives and customer requirements. Physical plant and equipment should be maintained to support production.
  • Quality: Ensure quality processes and procedures are followed accurately and on-time.

 

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four (4) year college or university, preferred but not required.
  • Fifteen (15) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have at least ten (10) years of managerial experience in a fast-paced manufacturing, industrial, distribution or operations environment.
  • Experience with continuous improvement tools such as Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, etc. is highly desirable.
  • Excellent computer skills required, using MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Power Point and/or Access), Internet software and ability to learn the company proprietary software.
  • Previous experience in Plating, Powder, and/or E-Coat shops highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge from an ISO environment highly preferred.
  • Root cause analysis and corrective action experience required.
  • A demonstrated track record of achieving results.
  • Ability to be bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred, but not required.
  • Interpersonal and Leadership skills (outgoing and engaged leadership style) with positive attitude.
  • Adequate knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management.
  • Must have excellent time management, and strong attention to detail, verbal, and written communication skills, listening, and decision-making skills.
  • Must be able to lead and direct employees, prepare reports for upper management and facilitate/disseminate information.
  • Strong coaching, conflict resolutions, team building and training skills.
  • Conduct all activities in an ethical manner and within the guidelines of company policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Working knowledge of budgets, forecasting and metrics.
  • Ability to effectively present information to all levels of the company; plant floor to executive leadership.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects.

 

Travel

  • Minimal travel to other company location(s) in Illinois for meetings during work schedule.
  • Occasional travel within USA for training seminars.
