MAJOR GOALS AND PURPOSE

The Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist will support the organization in sourcing, screening, and interviewing to build a strong candidate pipeline from which to draw qualified candidates for hiring talent.  Heavy emphasis in this role will be to manage the full life-cycle of the recruiting process from sourcing through the on-boarding process.  Utilization of sales, research, and networking skills, the position will require the proactive identification of active and passive talent.  The position will also be responsible for placing and editing job advertisements in various media outlets, database management, and internet resume mining, cold calling, school/organization recruiting, and screening applicants.

ESSENTIAL ACTIVITIES:

  1. Develops and maintains professional relationships with college, university, and community college placement offices to generate qualified applicants.
  2. Network with industry affiliations and members and become familiar with those in the industry in order to broaden talent pool and use as a recruiting resource.
  3. Directs the efforts of employment agencies and search firms, including negotiating and controlling employment related fees. 
  4. Schedule and attend job/career fairs with appropriate staff as a resource to generate qualified applicants.
  5. Develops recruitment strategies to achieve required staffing levels throughout the organization.
  6. Conducts reference and background checks, in accordance with applicable laws.
  7. Measure the hiring/recruiting process through metrics to ensure effectiveness of the program.  Recommend adjustments based on metric results.                   
  8. Participates in the development of the annual recruiting budget.
  9. Administer and manage the recruiting database software.  Use this system to post positions, track applicants, categorize each applicant, and for EEO compliance and reporting.  Ensure database is in legal compliance with regards to EEO standards.
  10. Screen and refer qualified applicants to hiring managers for interviewing.  Provide initial screening to obtain work history, education, training, job skills, culture fit, etc. Administer/coordinate applicant assessments. 
  11. Coordinate the interview process with internal hiring managers, executive interviews, etc.
  12. Utilize social media platforms to search for talent, i.e. post positions, manage candidate pool, passive recruiting, etc.
  13. Work with the marketing department and utilize their expertise to effectively market Tarlton’s brand to prospective employees; website, ads, career fair marketing materials, etc.
  14. Manage the summer internship program to ensure interns receive a meaningful experience.
  15. Manage and coordinate the on-boarding/orientation process for all new hires while keeping in tune with best practices.
  16. Arranges travel and lodging for applicants, if applicable.
  17. Stay in touch with recruiting trends and best practices.
  18. Other duties as assigned by HR Manager.

MISCELLANEOUS

  1. Work with Diversity Coordinator on recruiting resources/agencies to broaden our diverse talent pool, and keep track of outreach.
  2. Work with Manager of Field Operations to ensure tracking of applicant pool is in accordance with EEO/Affirmative Action Policy and legal requirements.

PREREQUISITES (i.e., Education, Experience)

  1. Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Human Resources, or related.
  2. Minimum five years of experience in recruiting within an organization (Corporate and/or Agency).
  3. Understanding of employment law, as it relates to staffing, and human resources practices.
  4. Solid consultative skills to build strong relationships with human resources and hiring managers to better understand business priorities, needs and plans.
  5. Experience recruiting in the AEC industry preferred, but not required.
