Job Statement:  

Assists with installation, routine maintenance and troubleshooting, repair of mechanical and electrical HVAC systems.

Essential/Critical Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain excellent Customer Satisfaction
  • Provide necessary administrative information in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Understand the scope of work to be provided under the contract.
  • Schedule (with Coordinator) and provide labor to perform work within the sold hours.
  • Keep Customers (internal & external) satisfied and informed of all activities.
  • Provide Check/Test/Start and routine preventative maintenance on mechanical/electrical HVAC systems. The typical equipment serviced is:
  • Heating Systems - Boilers (hot water and steam), steam traps, condensate return systems, pumps, heating coils and associated piping
  • Cooling Systems Compressors (reciprocating, screw, and centrifugal), condensers, cooling towers, expansion valves, hot gas bypass, cooling coils, and associated piping
  • Fan Systems Dampers, control valves, blowers, bearings, motors, starters, and VFD's
  • Proficient at utilizing building plans (bluelines) and specifications to accomplish our work
  • Use of industry specific Mathematics
  • Provide technical support to customer’s onsite and over the telephone
  • Respond to emergency service calls (on and after hours)
  • Write detailed service reports at completion of visit, tracking hours and materials used
  • Assists senior technicians in troubleshooting and repairing system problems
  • Attend required training at SmartEdge
  • Follow company safety procedures
  • Maintain a positive SmartEdge image
  • Understanding of basic electricity up to 480v
  • Ability to perform pipefitting and sheet metal install
  • Must acquire basic knowledge of HVAC equipment and systems (Required Knowledge Base) via interactive CD Rom Training within 6 months

Education and Experience:

  • Team player within the complete organization.  Honesty, requesting and providing support as necessary
  • Basic understanding of building environmental systems
  • Minimum High School diploma of GED and knowledge of Roof Top Units & atmospheric boilers
  • Preferred 2 year AAS degree in mechanical or electrical field
  • Minimum 2 years previous mechanical experience or AAS degree in mechanical engineering
  • Preferred 3 years in HVAC field & working knowledge of Air Handling Units & Boiler Operation
