Job Summary:

The Operations Director is responsible for setting the operations divisions annual priorities and goals and for overseeing their execution in accordance with the company’s stated mission, purpose, and values.  Oversees the operations of the company including aggregates production, drilling and blasting, and equipment management for multiple locations. This position reports to the Vice President of Operations and has 5 direct reports which include Assistant General Superintendents (2), Sand and Gravel Superintendent, Drilling and Blasting Superintendent and Equipment Manager. Works with direct reports and others throughout the organization to help them develop the skills they need to be values-based leaders.  Maintains a network of key contacts and leverages those relationships to expand knowledge and understanding of the aggregates industry.

 

Job Duties:

  • Leads the operations side of the business in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Manatt Family of Businesses by modeling the way as a servant leader, setting the example for all others to follow.  
  • Provides vision, inspiration, and influence to ensure all team members understand, accept, and integrate best practices in alignment with the mission, values, and vision.
  • Invests time in self-development and growth.
  • Works with direct reports to develop Performance Management Plans and to implement any necessary Performance Improvement Plans.
  • Ensures a highly engaged/enabled and aligned workforce by being a visible and vocal advocate for servant leadership.
  • Supports direct reports in their efforts to lead their people by providing the tools and training necessary for success.
  • Monitors progress on projects, operational and financial and metrics from the annual business plan.
  • Works with other leaders to leverage data to make smart business decisions driven toward efficiency, resource conservation and profitability.
  • Leads development and implementation of the operations division’s 3-year strategic plan.
  • Stays up to date on markets, product and equipment innovations, and production techniques.

General Info:

Job Type: Full-Time, Exempt, Monday - Friday, approximately 7 am - 5 pm (50 hours avg), hours may vary by season.

Experience Required: 10 years’ experience with 5 years in Management, or equivalent combination of experience and education.

Education Required: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institute, preferably in Mine Engineering, Aggregates, Construction, Natural Resources or business-related field.
