Job Summary
The Bridge Carpenter/Laborer builds job-specific wood forms and assembles form systems for concrete bridge construction using carpenter’s hand and power tools.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Builds wood forms and assembles form systems.
• Sets and ties steel.
• Safely erects and wrecks all forms.
• Assists in pouring, grading, and finishing concrete.
• Assists in rigging and provides flagging and direction to Crane Operator.
• Works closely with all crew members using hand signals to coordinate work and ensure safety.
• Keeps equipment clean and in working order and prepares equipment for transport when needed.
• Maintains orderliness, cleanliness and safety at job site.
• Follows Supervisor’s instructions closely.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Read and understand construction plans and specifications.
• Understand and adhere to all safety regulations.
• Understand and safely adheres to Personal Protection Equipment requirements.
Education and Experience
• High School Diploma
• 1-3 years of directly related experience.
• Heavy Equipment operations and Mechanic skills a plus.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
• Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
• Walk, bend, kneel, lift, stretch and sit.
• Work extended hours out of doors in a variety of weather conditions.
• Travel is required.
• Some Saturday Work
