As a Excavator Operator on our team, you will be responsible for all excavation on heavy civil projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs daily inspection and ensures that machine is in safe, proper working order including fluid checks and proper lubrication.
- Reports to shop when equipment needs maintenance and repair.
- Work closely with other crew members using hand signals to coordinate work and ensure safety.
- Excavates trenches observing safety rules, sometimes with workers in the trench.
- Must excavate around utility lines with precision to avoid damage to lines and ensure safety of personnel in trench.
- Change Tool/Bucket
- Place and remove trench box safely
- Connect pipe: the operator is required to maneuver/connect pipes to each other by sliding or pulling pipes together.
- Place and move manholes in trench.
- Keeping equipment clean and preparing equipment for transport on flatbed when needed.
- Maintain orderliness, cleanliness and safety at jobsite.
- Follow Supervisor’s instructions closely.
Skills and Abilities:
- Understand and adhere to trench safety regulations.
- Understand and adhere to the Personal Protection Equipment requirements.
Physical and other requirements:
- Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 80 pounds.
- Walk, bend, kneel, lift, stretch and sit.
- Work extended hours out of doors in a variety of weather conditions.
- Travel and some Saturday work are required.
