Compensation:

  • Salary: $70,000 - $85,000

Job purpose:  To manage, plan, and coordinate all personnel and operations functions in ABCO’s Distribution Center.  This will contribute to ABCO’s mission of exceeding customers’ highest expectations by:

  • Ensuring that all functions of the warehouse run in an efficient and safe manner, thereby supporting all sales and customer service functions of the organization at a high level
  • Developing and maintaining a competent, efficient warehouse staff which utilizes best practices to ensure safe, clean, and efficient operations including union, non-union, and management.

 

Requirements:

  • Experience: At least 5 years warehouse management experience
  • Education: high school diploma; Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree a plus
  • Skills and traits:
    • ​Extremely detail oriented
    • Strong communication skills
    • Knowledge of routing vehicles
    • Personnel management – specifically experience managing supervisor level employees
    • Understanding of OSHA, MSDS and Dealer Tire standards
    • Understanding of Warehouse Management Systems
    • Understanding of inventory management
    • Understanding of DOT Regulations
    • Well organized
    • Self motivated
    • Ability to motivate staff
    • Excellent PC Skills; Proficient with Microsoft Suite
  • Physical Job Requirements:
    • Lifting at least 70 pounds
    • Continuous lifting, bending, twisting, and crouching.

 

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Personnel Management
    • Provide direct daily supervision and direction to all warehouse associates (both union and non-union)
    • Tour the warehouse regularly to answer employee questions, evaluate operations, and solve issues, and develop new procedures.
    • Institute and enforce warehouse rules and policies
    • Maintain appropriate staffing levels to meet goals and deadlines in an effective and efficient manner
    • Conduct regular performance appraisals to communicate and evaluate performance requirements and goals of all managers.
    • Coordinate with senior management to propose training, hiring, development, motivation, and termination recommendations.

 

  • Operations Management
    • Research and recommend programs to improve overall warehouse operations
    • Coordinate and oversee all operations of the Distribution Center, including:
      • Warehouse Management
        • Manage and evaluate space utilization and suggest methods for improving layout design efficiency
        • Using a product locator system, manage the optimal utilization of warehouse space, performing relocation and consolidation of product as necessary
        • Maintain a clean, safe & secure work area, specifically ensuring compliance with MSDS and Dealer Tire standards
      • Shipping and receiving Management:
        • Direct and supervise all inbound and outbound shipments to ensure accuracy and timeliness of all deliveries to customers
        • Plan, organize and monitor the receiving, storage, and distribution of all items received from vendors
        • Ensure accuracy of all receiving and shipping activities, documents, associates, and operations
      • Equipment Management:
        • Ensure all equipment is being utilized properly, efficiently, and in a safe manner
        • Implement and manage sound equipment maintenance programs
        • Ensure all associates are properly trained and/or licensed to operate equipment
      • Inventory Management:
        • Maintain accurate and organized inventory records
        • Ensure proper stock rotation schedules
        • Perform precise and timely physical inventory counts
        • Perform daily cycle counts and make adjustments accordingly
        • Develop systems to maintain inventory security
      • Maintain the warehouse operational budget

 

  • Transportation Management
    • Review daily routes to insure efficiency as well as customer service
    • Oversight on all DOT Regulations including
      • Driver Log Books
      • Safety Regulations
      • Vehicle Maintenance
      • Fuel Reporting
    • Work directly with Transportation Manager to improve overall processes

 

  • Reporting
    • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all warehouse activity records and reports
    • Review and evaluate operating goals and standards on a daily basis
    • Manage the recording of outgoing and incoming freight for proper counts and codes

 

  • Position Knowledge and Training
    • Maintains thorough and up-to-date knowledge and understanding of:
      • SxE functionality
      • Warehouse management systems
      • Product flow
      • Document management
      • Workflow Balancing
      • WMS System
    • Attends all mandated company training programs as directed
    • Conducts safety meetings and training programs as directed and or needed
