Position Details
Family Resources is looking for a strong, determined, passionate, innovative, Accounting Supervisor. The Accounting Supervisor will assist the Director of Finance with all financial matters of Family Resources. They will provide leadership to the finance team to provide all accounting functions, maintain the general ledger and complete financial reporting. They will be charged with creating efficiencies and overseeing automated processes. They must be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment and thrive in an autonomous and deadline-oriented workplace while supervising Finance Department staff and supporting service managers/directors.
- Position Hours: Typically M-F 8am-5pm with some flexibility expected

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Financial
- Supervise the Finance Department to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and function.
- Coordinate the daily operations of the agency’s finance department and the month-end close process.
- Prepare month-end adjusting journal entries and account reconciliations
- Oversee third-party providers of AP and Payroll functions
- Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.
- Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of financial and management reporting and prepare and communicate monthly and annual financial statements
- Coordinate audits and proper filing of tax returns.
- Ensure legal and regulatory compliance related to financial functions.
- Complete miscellaneous projects as they arise, such as budget analysis, scenario modeling, break-even analysis and ad hoc reporting.
- Remain up to date on nonprofit accounting, audit best practices and state and federal law regarding nonprofit operations.
- Drive opportunities for automation and efficiencies.
Operations
- Coach and guide the program staff to accomplish their work.
- Inspire the team when they become discouraged.
- Maintain morale with words and tone when the team hits a rough spot.
- Conduct, at minimum, twice a month supervisions with all program staff and ensure appropriate documentation is maintained.
- Ensure all regulatory standards (i.e. COA, managed care organization, and licensing) pertaining to the program are met and create appropriate systems to maintain compliance.
- Establish outcomes, program goals and logic models and stakeholder reporting tools in partnership with the Effectiveness and Quality Department.
- Possess patience, optimism, enthusiasm, some amount of charm and discretion.
- Ability and willingness to speak up, represent the program positively, advocate diplomatically, tolerate compromise and keep an eye on the long run outcomes.
- Ensure agency policies, personnel procedures and practices are implemented and followed.
- Participate in the Family Resources All Agency Supervisors and act as an active leader in promoting cross-department collaboration.
Client/External
- Serves as a public face of the Agency by interfacing with regulatory, community and funder leadership.
- Ensures that communication with outside parties is coordinated and effectively builds positive relationships.
- Ensures measures are in place and followed to enable the agency to measure service outcomes and demonstrate improvement of children and families served.
- Actively participate as liaison for assigned community, state, and national affiliations.
People
- Creates positive, inclusive, safe, client-led and outcome-oriented culture.
- Oversees the hiring, development, supervision, and retention of qualified staff.
- Oversees communication with staff in assigned area of responsibility to ensure that staff understand organizational vision, culture, and strategy.
- Implements and provides leadership interpretation/guidance for agency policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in a related field plus three years of broad financial experience required including experience supervising staff. Experience with a non-profit organization strongly preferred.
Training: To be completed within 3 months from first day of employment: Family Resources Orientation, Mandatory Reporter, 64-hour Victim Service Training, and Trauma Informed Care Certification Program (TIC)
Must have current proof of car insurance, able to pass driving background check and have reliable transportation.
