The Human Resources Manager supports and leads all aspects of and continuous improvement in Human Resources (HR).  This position serves as a trusted advisor to executives on human resources business / administrative operations, strategy, planning, policies, systems, and processes to deliver consistent results.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. Create and execute a strategic plan for HR to meet company goals
  2. Leads HR team, functions, policies, and processes:
  1. Support the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization through change management, organizational and performance management, and training and development as applicable
  2. Provide strategic HR leadership for the organization and management of the human resources functions including talent acquisition, onboarding, payroll / compensation, benefits, evaluations, employee relations, policies, compliance, records and document management, and termination
  3. Translate business needs and competitive landscape into actionable HR policies and strategies.
  4. Evaluate, improve and administer policies to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  5. Implement and oversee necessary information systems, ensure proper data collection and reporting, and update changes to policies as required
  6. Ensure that systems and technology provide reliable and timely data analysis to support key management decisions
  7. Provides necessary education and materials to managers and employees including workshops, manuals, employee handbooks, and standardized reports
  8. Establishes and leads the standard recruiting and hiring practices and procedures necessary to recruit and hire a superior workforce
  9. Determines and recommends employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation. Conducts periodic surveys to measure employee satisfaction and employee engagement
  10. Coaches and trains managers in their communication, feedback, recognition, and interaction responsibilities with the employees who report to them. Makes certain that the managers know how to successfully, ethically, honestly, and legally communicate with employees
  11. Conducts investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth
  12. Monitors and advises managers and supervisors in the progressive discipline system of the company
  13. Monitors the implementation of a performance improvement process with non-performing employees
  14. Recommends change in benefits offered, especially new benefits aimed at employee satisfaction and retention
  15. Monitors all pay practices and systems for effectiveness and cost containment. Verifies payroll information and time keeping practices
  16. Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
  17. May be required to drive a vehicle for business purposes occasionally
  18. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential for employee job performance
  19. Perform other duties as assigned

ENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work performed in office environment. Involves frequent contact with other employees. May require working under stressful conditions.
  • Operates office machinery including computers, fax machine, calculator, and photocopier.
  • Requires manual dexterity for office machine operation including computer and calculator, stooping, bending to handle files and supplies, and mobility to complete errands or deliveries.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or carry/move up to 20lbs
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to perform repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and arms
  • Must be able to complete job duties proficiently while adapting to changing demands and priorities
  • Must have the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and concentrate for long periods of time to perform duties in a safe manner

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • Active professional HR certification from an accredited HR organization (SHRM / HRCI)
  • 5+ years experience in employee issues, compensation, benefits, payroll, compliance, HRIS, and recruiting
  • Interpersonal – Resolves conflict in positive ways. Recognizes strengths and limitations of self and others Deals with the diverse behavior or others in groups to increase the group's productivity
  • Initiative – Identifies key issues, develops a workable solution from data and others, sells his/her solution and implements the solution. Actively seeks solutions to problems before being asked or directed
  • Continuous Improvement – Has high level of self-management and motivation to continuously improve processes, people, company, and self. Adapts and transfers new methods and ideas to maximize results
  • Organization – Ability to plan, organize, and set goals. Excellent time and work load management skills, ability to prioritize, high attention to detail, and ability to multi-task and meet established deadlines
  • Communication – Presents ideas/facts clearly and concisely in oral and written formats. Listens actively and asks the right questions. Appears knowledgeable and confident in communicating with others
  • Flexibility – Copes successfully with unexpected events. Handles several projects simultaneously. Brings simplicity and order out of complexity and chaos. Adapts well to, and supports change
  • Building Collaborative Relationships - Able to develop, maintain, and strengthen partnerships with others inside and outside of the organization who can provide information, assistance, and support
  • Excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
  • A high level of emotional intelligence, ethical standards, and professional integrity
  • Must have good decision making and problem solving capabilities
  • A current valid driver’s license is required
