Position Summary

NEBCO, Inc. is looking for a highly motivated Lab Inspector to monitor the entire process of prestressed / precast products manufactured or processed by Concrete Industries to ensure compliance with contract specifications

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.

Responsible for monitoring the entire process of prestressed/precast production including:

Pre-pour:

  • -Inspect forms for dimensional tolerances
  • -For prestressed products, monitor stressing of cable for accuracy of jack pressure and elongation of cables
  • -Ensure that all accessories are accurately placed and secured when necessary
  • -Ensure that the proper concrete mix has been ordered

Pour in process:

  • -Visually check each batch of concrete for obvious batching errors
  • -Make required number of test cylinders and perform all necessary fresh concrete tests
  • -Monitor placement and ensure accuracy of plates and other inserts placed after concrete is poured

Post Pour:

  • -Make sure concrete cylinder(s) achieve specified release strength before forms are detention and or stripped
  • -Perform a final inspection, measuring all pertinent dimensions before product is stored in yard -
  • Assure that all products are properly identified by piece number, production date, etc.
  • -Report all variances from the prints that are out of tolerance to the proper Concrete Industries personnel

Test materials used in manufacturing by Concrete Industries and NEBCO companies.

Test products manufactured by Concrete Industries and NEBCO companies.

Perform maintenance and cleanup of lab facilities and equipment as directed by the Lab Manager or Chief Inspector.

Examines company's records to secure such information as size and weight of product and results of quality tests.

Inspects product to determine compliance with order specifications and company's quality control system for compliance with requirements.

Submits samples of product to laboratory for testing as indicated by department procedures.

May include other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements & Education

  • High School or GED equivalent, plus 1-3 years’ experience in a related construction field.
  • Some college with emphasis in drafting preferred.
  • Prefer ACI Level 1 and PCI up to Level 2 certifications.
  • If applicant does not have the certifications, must have a past demonstrated ability to be trained at this level and be able to complete training and certification process within one year of employment.

Employee is usually required to stand; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds from floor to 64”, ascend and descent a 6 ft step ladder, perform a 24” step, 5 times, 25 lb-30ft carry.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
