Manhole Rehab Leadman
Job Purpose: Assist supervisor in leading the crew in performing tasks involving maintenance and rehabilitation of underground sewer and manhole structures utilizing hand tools and power tools to restore structural integrity.
Roles, Duties, & Responsibilities
- Working in confined spaces: entry into manhole and underground structures.
- Lead the crew in the absence of the site supervisor.
- Be able to work productively with minimal supervision.
- Is a problem-solver.
- High pressure water profiling, pressure washing, hydro blasting and grouting.
- Applying epoxy coating.
- Rehab manholes using cementitious coating or epoxy coating, spray, and trowel.
- Replace or adjust manhole ring, frames, and covers.
- Utilize flow through sewer plugs.
- Seal and stop infiltration around cracks, seams, and pipe connections.
- Build new bench, inverts, or channels.
- Conduct concrete patching.
- Plug off an abandoned pipe segment.
- Install various frame seal products.
- Utilize a grinder, sandblasting and a concrete spray rig.
- Needs to be able to spray apply a variety of products in a consistent mil thickness as well as know how to check for surface profile, WFT and DFT measurements.
- Must have mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot and solve/repair basic equipment issues.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
- Adheres to all Hunter Contracting Co. safety policies, procedures, and instructions from Management.
Work Qualifications:
- Hydraulic cement experience
- Hand and power tool experience
- Sandblasting experience
- Must be able to read and distinguish blueprints.
- Must be able to read and follow safety standards on labels.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces and be confined space certified.
- Must be able to pass a questionnaire and respiratory fit test.
- Ability to finish concrete surfaces.
- Knowledge of concrete fabrication techniques.
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or repair of structures, highways, or roads.
- Knowledge of materials, production processes, and quality control.
- Works within precise standards of accuracy.
- Takes pride in craftsmanship.
- Possesses honesty, integrity, good work ethic, motivation, and a willingness to learn.
- Position requires intermittent travel and occasional overtime.
Education & Work Experience Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent; AND
- 3 + years’ experience with INDUSTRIAL painting and/or abrasive blasting (epoxy, polyurethane, vinyl, plural component coating, and conventional and airless spray applications) and concrete repair.
- SSPC C7 Abrasive Blast, C12 Spray Application or Coatings Applicator Specialist (CAS) Level II (or higher) is desired.
- NACE or SSPC Coatings inspection certification is desired.
- Must know how to safely and properly set up and operate abrasive blast equipment as well as conventional, airless, and plural component spray equipment.
- Must know how to read and interpret product data, safety data sheet information, SSPC standards and properly mix and thin industrial and specialty coatings, OR
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Must be 21 year of age and have a valid driver license with no restrictions and reliable transportation.
