Innophos is seeking a motivated student to help us develop new functional ingredients and solutions to meet our customers needs in the Food Industry in our Cranbury, NJ laboratories. As the Food & Beverage Lab Intern, you will support key new product development activities with emphasis in the bakery segment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute well-defined experiments and procedures to prepare food prototypes in the lab and pilot plant
  • Perform hand-on benchtop evaluations of Innophos products
  • Record all relevant information related to product development, sample development & experimental design
  • Applying product and application know how to identify optimum technology solutions
  • Support scale up of products, batching and optimization
  • Support initiation of QA documentation
  • Support New Product Development deliverable initiatives
  • Present the data generated to the Technology team
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures

The Food & Beverage Lab Intern position is well-suited for you if you are:

  • Creative, self-starter with positive thinking, and a willingness to help
  • Enjoy baking and cooking
  • Able to prioritize and organize, and are dedicated and able to manage time well, while working within strict deadlines
  • Collaborate and maintain positive relationships with internal partners to deliver results and support business performance
  • Have the ability to work onsite 40 hours per week during the summer internship term (10 – 12 weeks)

Required Education

  • Rising Sophomore/Junior towards a bachelor’s or master's degree in Food Science or a related field

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

  • Demonstrated experience with hands-on food concept development formulation laboratory
  • Knowledge of common food processes, food ingredient functionality and ingredient interactions preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communications with strong presentations skills
  • Proficiency using MS Office Programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

Assignment Duration:

  • Intern: 8-12 weeks
  • Co-op: 1+ semesters
