JOB TITLE:                                       MECHANICAL DRAFTER                              
DEPARTMENT:                              MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
REPORTS TO:                                 DIRECTOR PRODUCTION/MECHANICAL ENGINEERING  
CLASSIFICATION:                          NON-EXEMPT

  

Primary Function:
Serve is a mechanical drafter role in the engineering division. Mentor junior drafters and engineering techs on creating part and assembly drawings in CAD. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide budget hours for engineering efforts specific to CAD drafting.
  • Create drawings for design build efforts and lead the approval process for releasing drawings for production.
  • Serve as POC in the engineering division for Solidworks PDM administration.
  • Create manufacturing models and .dxf files for the production shop.
  • Serve as technical point of contact for project CAD drawing creations.
  • Participate in internal design review meetings.
  • Capture on site measurements for project installations utilizing hand measurement tools and FARO arm.
  • Recurring FOD training and awareness, upon hire and annually.
  • Recurring counterfeit prevention training and awareness, upon hire and annually.
  • Perform other duties as are necessary and/or required.

Requirements:

  • Familiarity with Solidworks 3D CAD.
  • Familiarity with Solidworks PDM.
  • Experience creating mechanical/manufacturing drawings to established standards (ASME, FAA and/or NAVAIR)
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience drafting sheet metal and machine parts.
  • Desired experience in working with DER’s for STC/8110 efforts or TAE’s for Navy IFC processes pertaining to mechanical/installation drawings.
  • Associates Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace with minimum 5 years’ experience in working industry or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace with minimum 3 years’ experience in working industry.
