Job Summary
The Ranch Hand is responsible for general maintenance and care of facilities, as well as the well-being of guests and animals for a game ranch in Laredo, Texas. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will generally be outside in a ranch environment and will be frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and all outside weather conditions. The employee may occasionally be exposed to chemicals, solvents, fumes, grease, and fuels and will be expected to handle them safely.
Essential Functions
- Performs general grounds and lawn care.
- Performs general field and shop activities.
- Performs building and facility maintenance.
- Sprays and treats for pests and brush control.
- Performs maintenance on watercraft and motor vehicles.
- Processes game animals during hunting season(s).
- Operates company vehicle(s) into the local area to purchase various ranch items such as materials or supplies.
- Performs painting, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks.
- Troubleshoots and performs plumbing work.
- Understands and handles cattle when necessary and required.

Required Skills & Experience
- 3 years of related previous ranch experience desired.
- Must possess basic mechanical knowledge for equipment repairs and maintenance.
- Must possess the ability to follow instructions/requests by manager or ranch guests.
- Must have a valid driver's license and can pass a motor vehicle check and drug screen, and physical.
- Must have the flexibility to work when needed, which requires the ability to work late hours, weekends, and overtime.
- Must possess problem-solving skills.
- Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis.
- Ability to push and pull up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis.
- Ability to perform tasks on rough, uneven surfaces and terrain.
- Requires full range of body motion including frequent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, climbing ladder and stairs, bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, crawling, reaching, handling, and grasping.
- Requires the ability to stand, sit, kneel, climb, or walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work outside up to 100% of the time.
- Ability to work in and around water at various levels.
