Reports to: Asphalt Quality Control Supervisor

Pay: Hourly, based on experience

 

Position Summary:

This position involves the collection of asphalt samples and performing testing procedures to determine the quality of materials. The Quality Control Technician will perform such duties efficiently, while adhering to MSHA and OSHA regulations. 

Essential Functions:

  • Collect and analyze production samples to evaluate quality.
  • Provide feedback and interpretation of quality to production management or staff.
  • Monitor performance of quality control systems to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Communicate quality control information to all relevant organizational departments, outside vendors, or contractors.
  • Verify that raw materials, purchased parts or components, in-process samples, and finished products meet established testing and inspection standards.
  • Conduct routine and non-routine analyses of aggregates and asphalt.
  • Interpret test results, compare them to established specifications and control limits.
  • Calibrate, validate, or maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Receive and inspect raw materials.
  • Ensure that lab cleanliness and safety standards are maintained.
  • Monitor testing procedures to ensure that all tests are performed according to established item specifications, standard test methods, or protocols.
  • Participate in internal assessments and audits as required.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Superpave Certification preferred
  • Experience with Aggregates or Asphalt preferred
  • High school education or GED equivalent

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in indoor and outdoor. The employees is regularly exposed to airborne particles and occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud.
