The Reinforced Earth Company is recognized as the inventor and market leader of the MSE (Mechanically Stabilized Earth) retaining wall industry. The company provides the design and supply of materials of proprietary retaining wall systems and earth related technologies to contractors and owners for use in civil engineering. Our company works as a sub-contractor/material supplier on DOT and privately owned projects. We perform all duties associated with our jobs from sales, marketing, civil engineering/design, supply, and construction support.

Job Description

The National Precast Manager reports directly to the VP of Procurement & Manufacturing and is responsible for all company operated precast plant operations, leading strategic execution and coordinating resources to create excellent products. The National Precast Manager oversees Precast Plant Managers ensuring that safety is a priority and protocols are enforced, deadlines are met, standards are upheld, and operations are profitable.

Responsibilities include:

Supervise and direct Precast Plant Managers providing guidance on operations for safety, production, maintenance, quality, and shipping.

Establish the strategic direction of the company’s precast manufacturing units, setting the plan for products, processes, and plant relationships with the goal of increasing efficiency and profitability.

Set key indicators for evaluating performance and meet regularly with Plant Managers to monitor progress.

Provide training for important topics such as risk mitigation, safety protocols, usage of new equipment, and industry best practices.

Develop a manufacturing plan and establish procedures for maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations to ensure that products meet or exceed established customer and company quality standards and are delivered in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Implement, in conjunction with Plant Manager, cost effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages and salaries for each individual plant.

Monitor overall plant performance for production, quality standards, safety and profitability.

Work closely with management to be sure company strategy, procedures and policies are followed in all areas including safety, compliance, training, human resources, reporting and policy.

Create/refine systems to minimize error and bolster productivity implementing approaches such as Lean 6, Sigma, or JIT (just-in-time).

Work Environment / Physical Demands:

The responsibilities will be carried out in both a traditional office environment under traditional office conditions and in an outside plant environment exposed to weather and process conditions.  Employee will be familiar with and observe safety and security procedures and use equipment and materials properly.

Must be able to coordinate or lead employees among different levels of the organization.

 Education/Skills/Experience:

Minimum Bachelor’s Degree and 10+ years’ experience in manufacturing management, preferably in a process-oriented operations and/or related industry. A minimum of 5-years’ experience managing a significant segment of a large facility is required.

Lean manufacturing and/or quality control certifications a plus.

Thorough understanding of systems and processes with ability and experience combining critical thinking with industry expertise to optimize production.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel ability.

Extensive knowledge of budgeting and financial statements.

Excellent written and oral communication skills with experience developing and conducting training and leading meetings.

Background with manufacturing methods, process improvement programs and procedures required.

Values maintaining positive relationships with employees and managers at all levels in the organization as well as with vendors.

Able to travel an average of 50% of time
