Position Summary

Based out of our landfill in Becker, MN, the Business Development Representative will be responsible for marketing and selling the company’s construction and demolition debris and light industrial waste landfill capacity by creating, fostering, and sustaining valuable customer relationships for designated accounts. This role will also be responsible for prospecting clients, planning, and implementing business development sales activities for all Vonco II landfill.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Seeks out and secures new construction & demolition debris and industrial waste customers to increase sales and expand the customer base at Vonco II landfill.
  • Works closely with Marketing and Veit Disposal Sales team to implement marketing and sales objectives to achieve company sales goals.
  • Contacts existing customers to maintain a working rapport, builds trust and secures a solid base for sales growth.
  • Generates new sales through consistent and targeted prospecting, client contact with emphasis on meetings and presentations, and participation in industry trade associations.
  • Assists Vice President with maintaining consistent and competitive service pricing that achieves company profit goals.
  • Monitors and reports on market conditions and competitor’s products/services.
  • Demonstrates professionalism while interacting with all current and potential customers. Handles difficult and sensitive customer issues with diplomacy and keeps customer lists and other proprietary company information confidential.
  • Tracks all daily calls and customer visits to document specifics regarding future activities and opportunities.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of known actions, written or verbal, which may affect the ability to successfully perform assignments or adversely affect company operation.
  • Other projects or duties as assigned by management.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university; plus 5 years’ sales experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience with Teams preferred but not required.
  • Ability to approach opportunities and challenges with an energetic, motivational, action-oriented approach.
  • Strong problem solving and business acumen competencies are required.
  • Must be comfortable speaking across all organizational levels and departments. Must possess the ability to effectively present information to customers and the public.  
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.
  • Ability to respond to shifting priorities in a versatile environment with a can-do attitude.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Three years’ experience selling Waste Management or Heavy Industrial services.
  • Working knowledge of CRM software.

Other

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Requires 8 to 10-hour hour workdays, Monday – Friday.
  • Day travel to customer and jobsites within Minnesota (75-100%)
  • Overnight travel within the state of Minnesota (50%)

Seldom lifts up to 10 lbs. unassisted.
