Balfour Beatty in Humble, TX are currently undertaking the Northeast Water Purification Plant (NEWPP) expansion project. This design-build project will add 320 million gallons per day (MGD) by 2024 to the existing water plant’s capacity. We are currently hiring for Concrete Finishers to join the team.
Essential Functions
- Perform finishing work on cured concrete wall surfaces, point and patch, rub finish, ect.
- Be able to operate equipment including; manlifts and scissor lifts
- Must have own tools, such as work belt, hammer, tape measure and hand level.
- Excellent attendance.
- Ability to operate powered industrial equipment and work with crew members effectively and operate a variety of hand power tools including drills, hammers, and other tools as directed by management.
- Safety consciousness
- Ability to lift and carry at least 25 pounds. Team lifts are required on items over 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work from heights.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces.
- Must be able to work outdoors with exposure to changing weather conditions such as rain, snow, wind, hot, etc. required.
- Enough clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits employee to communicate effectively.
- Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
- Ability to perform tasks including physical labor as instructed by supervisor.
- Flexible schedule to work days/nights and weekends (as needed) required.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or educational equivalent.
- 2 years of verifiable experience working safely in or on industrial facilities and construction sites such as water treatment plants, power plants, and refineries is preferred but not required.
- Ability to climb and maintain balance on scaffold/ladders required.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs: may be required to work in adverse weather conditions.
- Requires the ability to comply with all safety policies and procedures; communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure projects are completed properly.
- Possess a strong work ethic and desire to learn.
- Requires good manual dexterity; may be standing, bending, kneeling or sitting for long periods of time.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening before starting.
- Follow all required safety rules, polices and guidelines.
Preferred Requirements
- High-school Diploma or GED is preferred.
- 2 years of construction experience.
- Flexible schedule to work days/nights and weekends as needed.
