Director of Technology Solutions
Position Summary
This position will be responsible for implementing technology solutions across all lines of business throughout The Gerken Companies. This position will also provide leadership to the Information Technology (IT) staff while managing an on-premise environment in alignment with the company's goals and objectives. The ideal candidate will succeed in a fast paced and collaborative environment leveraging a high degree of confidentiality, integrity, creativity, and innovation. This position reports directly to V.P. with 1-4 direct reports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Establishes the IT strategy and budget required to support business needs and company growth plans.
- Oversees network administration and ensure proper security permissions.
- Develops and implements a robust cyber security strategy including assessment of risks and vulnerabilities in hardware and software, including a plan for continuous monitoring of company resources, a procedure for reporting incidents and strategies of defense.
- Maintains responsibility for compliance with IT regulations involving privacy, cybersecurity, and disaster recovery policies and programs.
- Serves as the senior IT liaison with business unit leaders.
- Oversees IT Support, ensuring end users have the resources and support they need to effectively use technology in their job functions.
- Educates teams on the implementation of new initiatives and coordinate the associated training.
- Performs supervisory responsibilities including planning, assigning, and directing work; performance monitoring; addressing concerns complaints and resolving problems.
- Manages vendor support of technology solutions while meeting company objectives.
- Assesses operating costs, productivity levels, upgrade requirements, and other metrics by analyzing system performance and overall IT infrastructure.
- Resolves network and communications issues to maintain operational readiness.
- Travels periodically throughout northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan to visit and maintain remote sites (I.e., plants and quarries) within The Gerken Companies.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree with a major in Information Technology, Business, Engineering or related field; or equivalent experience.
- 5/10+ years of work experience in IT, encompassing hardware, software, networks, servers, telecommunications, ERP systems, cyber security, and IT policies. Work experience must include working in a management capacity over multiple IT functions.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Excellent leadership, collaboration, facilitation, and follow-through abilities.
- Excellent communication skills with a capacity to present, discuss and explain issues coherently and logically both in writing and verbally, to all audiences, including at the Board level.
- Ability to think strategically and evaluate options in the short, medium, and long term.
- Strong planning and organizing skills including the ability to manage several work streams simultaneously.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Monitor and understand the technology department budget use and impact on company productivity.
