Herbert Construction Co. located in the Marietta area of Atlanta, is looking for General Superintendent to join their team. This individual has to provide on-site coordination for all phases of construction projects, including coordinating subcontractors, material and equipment, ensuring that specifications are being strictly followed, and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget. Superintendent shall be responsible for scheduling, inspections, quality control, and job site safety.

Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities

  • Must understand basic concrete principles such as concrete mix designs, admixtures, curing, cold and hot weather procedures for concrete placing and finishing, formwork systems, etc. as well as concrete calculations for pours. 
  • Frequently visits job sites to ensure job progress, supervises crew, resolves any technical queries and walks all units on project daily to monitor activities and assist in future planning.
  • Maintain foundation checklist (written) of activities on the jobsite.
  • Coordinates with Senior Cad operator and Head of Operations regarding any current or upcoming project and communicates updates and impacts to schedule on a daily basis.
  • Perform Superintendent duties at multiple job sites, simultaneously.
  • Schedule subcontractors, consultants, and vendors in critical path to ensure timely completion during the day and checks on upcoming work with the builders.
  • Interface with the client, resolving contract disputes and arranging any necessary change orders.
  • Review and understand all Contract Documents, including, but not limited to: project drawings, specifications, schedules, sketches, estimates, client schedule, and the Contract.
  • Performs pre-construction duties, checking on jobsite accessibility, assisting in the estimating and budgeting phase.
  • Communicates conflicts or revisions to the plan with the team for mutual resolution, prior to execution of work that deviates from the approved plans.
  • Meet with the builder upon initial layout to establish wall heights and other information at the job site.
  • Coordination with builders, engineers and inspectors for various jurisdictions and the ability to schedule inspection either by phone or electronically.
  • Ensure that subcontractor is fully executing and complying with his contracted scope of work.
  • Ensure that the job site is always kept in a clean and organized manner.
  • Monitoring and forecasting of man/crew hours.

 

Required Skills/Abilities

 

  • Excellent technical skills, proficient in reading, understanding, and applying blueprints, elevations, simple details and job specifications as well as safety knowledge and skills
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities along with a willing attitude to learn and sense of urgency and a natural ability to work in a fast paced and growing environment.
  • Outstanding communication skills verbal and written.
  • Establishes collaborative relationships with coworkers, management, and subordinates
  • Excellent computer and technology skills.
  • Demonstrated record of accomplishment and creative problem solving.
  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Internet.
  • Willingness to travel 80% of time at work.
  • Flexible with timings and willingness to work longer hours.
