SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position responsible for performing in – process inspections, verifies traceability, correct product and procedures for accuracy prior to QA inspection. As part of the MPC duties, they are required to enforce GMP rules on the line and surrounding areas. This position requires use of some PPE and special tools such as gloves and box cutters.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIRED

A)    Obey GMP’s and PPE’s for production areas.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assembly:

Start of Day

A)    MPC will pick up traceability report and MPC worksheet from the file cabinet at the QC station.

B)     Review traceability report for menu code and the respective items and lot numbers

C)     Compare worksheet item and lot numbers with the traceability report. Identify discrepancies.

D)    In case of discrepancies, advise Lead or Supervisor and await approval or directions.

First Approval

A)    Compare traceability report and worksheet with Lead’s documentation to ensure accuracy of items. (Same products, items, and lot numbers).

B)     Using traceability report, inspect bins on the line for correct product, accessory packs, lot number and quality of product.

C)     The Line Lead will create a “First Approval Bag” with all the items for the menu and submit the bag to the MPC. The MPC will inspect bag and inspect it, looking for discrepancies. MPC will approve or decline “first approval bag”.

D)    MPC will sign release, approving the “First Approval Bag” allowing the line to start running.

Line Inspection

A)    Retrieve 10 randomly selected menu bags every 20 minutes for inspection.

B)     Inspect bag content, comparing product quality, product accuracy and lot number with the traceability report, and fill the MPC worksheet.

C)     Enter information into Synergy system (computer system).

D)    Inspect seals by performing tensile test. (once per hour)

1)      Retrieve a randomly selected sealed bag.

2)      Using a box cutter, break open the manufacture’s seal leaving Wornick’s seal intact.

3)      Take bag to the tensile machine to test seal strength.

4)     Reconcile all documentation and submit it to the records Review Clerk.

End of Shift

A)    During the course of the day, AVI retrieves some samples for their inspection. MPC are required to collect those samples and replace them into the correct menu bags and boxes.

B)     MPC are also responsible for cataloging and storing defective product and placing them in salvage bin.

C)     Catalog and count defective menu bags dispose them at the end of the day.

D)    Assist line employees, line stocker, final assembly or other departments if requested by lead or supervisor.

Final Assembly

A)    Cross train by assisting final assembly in the inspection of final product.

B)     Inspect for labels, straps, proper seal, quantity and quality of packed product.

C)     Final assembly duties require lifting up to approximately 40lbs.

D)    Measure completed pallets and update the Unit Load Dimension Log.

Food Plant:

Pick up Paperwork and Tool Kits for line

  • Scale
  • Thermometer
  • Special Tools (Leak Tester, Peel Tester)

Ensure the Line is Set up for all Quality testing, including but not limited to:

·         Burst Machine has Air Connection

·         Sink is filled with water for Residual Air Testing

·         Scale is level

·         Tare Container retrieved for the day

·         Video Jet (Supervisor must Sign off approving)

·         Fill weight verification

·         Check weigher verification

·         Magnet trap / X-ray verification

All defined parameters shall be met.  If parameters acceptable, the line can begin.  If parameters are unacceptable adjustments must be made until in specification.

After the production line or packaging line has started if a problem would arise the MPC must immediately notify the Supervisor about the issue.

MPC must pull the post samples from the previous day and finish the testing.  The MPC’s have 24 hours from the time the product has been produced to get the samples completed.

All paperwork is turned into the QA Supervisors office.

QUALIFICATIONS

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job assignment an individual must meet the required job specific training located in the Training Register.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must be able to read, communicate, and comprehend English.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Employee must have the ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide by multiples of 10’s and 100’s. Person must be able to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurements, volume and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES

Must be able to recognize colors, shapes and textures. Must be able to perform repetitive placement of products on a conveyor belt. Employees must be able to work in a fast environment and still follow all safety policies and procedures.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, Ability to adjust focus and color vision. Occasionally may carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. As a MPC the employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. When assisting in final assembly lifting requirement is 40 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee will work near moving mechanical parts and can be regularly exposed to extreme hot or cold. The employee is constantly exposed to vibrations. The employee is also exposed to fumes, or airborne particles. The work environment can be noisy and/ or loud. Some personal protective equipment may be mandatory depending on location
