Position Summary

Markets and sells products manufactured and represented by Concrete Industries, Inc. according to profit standards, to construction and specialty contractors. This position's sales focus will be in heavy highway. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.

Develop a comprehensive understanding of the company’s products with an emphasis on heavy highway products (bridge and pipe), as well as understanding the strengths and weaknesses of competitor’s products.

Assist in the development and implementation of a strategic marketing plan for Concrete Industries' products which would include structural precast concrete, precast concrete pipe, reinforcing steel, structural steel and warehouse products.

Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, Internet Web sites, and other sources.

Develop and maintain relationships with customers with an emphasis on heavy highway products (bridge and pipe) to enable Concrete Industries, Inc. to command a sales edge over our competitors.

Provide preliminary engineering and pricing for customers with assistance from the company’s engineering and estimating departments primarily for structural precast concrete and occasionally for precast concrete pipe.

Assure bids on projects support the company profit standards/margins by executing price and product strategies in conjunction with the marketing plan.

Travel throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to develop a business understanding of products and services that they may use now or in the future.  May deal with customers in person, by phone, e-mail or text.

During the bidding stages of a project, work with internal groups to assure products and services are consistent with the customer requirements.  Provide leads to other companies within the organization that may be able to provide services or products to meet the customer needs.

Maintain sales files with all information pertinent to the project for jobs sold, lost or postponed.

Assist in developing and implementing the use of brochures, direct mailers, magazine ads and Concrete Industries’, Inc. website that is consistent with the strategic plan.

Maintain involvement in one or more of the following industry associations:  Prestressed Concrete Association of NE (PCAN), PCI Midwest, Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI), NE Concrete Pipe Association (NCAP) and American Concrete Pipe Association (ACPA).   Attend trade shows when needed.

Represent the company according to a high level of professionalism, ethics, integrity and product knowledge.

Position Requirements & Education

  • A Bachelor's degree with emphasis in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Architecture or related field is preferred. 
  • Three to five years related experience and/or training which will demonstrate strong technical, construction and design consulting sales skills; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable with the company driver policy.
  • Previous sales and marketing experience in a construction related industry is preferred.
  • Ability to understand, conceptualize and persuade customers on the benefits of company related products that will meet their needs and add value to the end result.
  • Must have good people skills. 
  • Must be able to work weekends and evenings based on business needs or customer requests.  Some overnight travel may be required.

The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and use hands and fingers to handle, or feel.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 

Must be able to go to construction sites as needed.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. 

May be required to make visits to construction sites.
