Position Description:

The Distribution Center Operations Manager oversees the six Distribution Centers to ensure inventory is accurate and operations are conducted in a safe, secure, efficient and cost-effective manner.

Job Duties:

  • Focus areas include: Employee Management & Development, Inventory Management, and Expense Management, 
  • Ensure consistent communication of company goals and information to Distribution Center (DC) Managers
  • Review performance measures for each DC Manager on a regular basis to help them meet and exceed company goals.
  • Review discrepancies from the Monthly Inventory Cycle and coordinate with the Distribution Center Managers to resolve discrepancies.
  • Review the Shipping Accuracy Report to ensure that the right product arrives at the right branch at the right time and coordinate with the Distribution Center Managers to correct any problems.
  • Communicate with General Managers and Branch Managers regarding any changes in the Distribution Center’s operating procedures.
  • Assist with resolutions regarding truck loads, truck routes, and truck and driver personnel needs to increase performance of the Distribution Centers. 
  • Review operating statements through GL Soft on a monthly basis with Distribution Center Managers to ensure expenses are properly managed.
  • Monitor and coordinate with the Distribution Center Managers to manage payroll expenses of the Distribution Center.
  • Prepare annual preliminary budget for DC operations.
  • Stay abreast of OSHA, FMCSA, Federal, State, and Local DOT compliance regulations.
  • Ensure all applicable OSHA, FMCSA and DOT regulations are followed.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a manager in a distribution center required (or 10 years of progressive experience with Coburn Supply Company)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics Management or Business preferred, high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience with Warehouse Management System Software Preferred.
  • Must possess basic computer skills, intermediate skills preferred.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as proper telephone etiquette.
  • Ability to organize resources and establish priorities.
  • Must pass company required drug screen, physical and background screening.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel to Coburn’s locations - 60-70% travel expected.
  • All applicants must be able to perform the following physical tasks:
    • Able to lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs.
    • Have physical mobility and dexterity to frequently stand, bend, push, twist, kneel, climb, squat, stoop, and reach overhead.
    • Occasionally drives/operates forklifts; works with tools, and equipment.
    • Considerable mental/visual concentration, coordinating manual dexterity with mental/visual attention.
  • Must wear closed-toe shoes, gloves, and other protective items as required.  Warehouse environment. Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
