About the Field Safety Rep Position:

- The Field Safety Rep. maintains awareness of new rules and regulations, reviews and studies trends from the company's injury, incident and leading indicator trends, assisting the Safety Director with prevention efforts in all areas.
- The Field Safety Rep. is a technical resource that is responsible to assist in developing intervention practices to reduce losses, providing leadership in educating new hires, current employees and others regarding hazard recognition and avoidance, and performing job site visits/audits.
- This role conducts safety observations and adds them into iAuditor.
- The Field Safety Rep visits job sites often to ensure safety measures are consistently implemented company wide.
- He/she will make recommendations to the Safety Director regarding updates to company safety policies, assist with incident investigations, be involved with pre-job site safety meetings/audits to determine potential safety risks, and assists in the pre-planning process of future Brubacher projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Technical Competency: Has a basic working knowledge of OSHA/MSHA regulations and their application to Brubacher Excavating and its related activities. The Field Safety Rep. will maintain general familiarity with worker's compensation and general liability and environmental/pollution matters, including proper reporting of injuries and incidents. Analyze and investigate incidents, their causes and prevention techniques. Has a basic understanding of basic human behavior and communication, adapting their approach to the audience.
- Safety Example: Is a role model for all employees, subcontractors, and managers in workplace safety. Lives out safety as a value, maintaining safe driving habits, job site interaction and actions to foster a cooperative spirit among employees and others.
- Interaction with Employees: Regular interaction and effective communication is expected with all levels of Brubacher employees, especially in the field Establishes and maintains the respect and cooperation from hourly workers to management, with a focus on supporting field supervisors. The Field Safety Rep. will represent the company's mission, vision and values, along with its best interests. Finds ways to encourage and motivate employees to live out safety as a value even when unsupervised.
- Public Relations: Addresses any inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a professional and courteous manner. Maintains positive relations with regulatory agencies, vendors, and the public. Refers all media inquiries to designated corporate officials (i.e. President or COO)
- Administrative: Assists in representing the Safety Department at meetings, maintains appropriate documentation of site inspections; safety committee meetings; safety training sessions; incident investigations, loss reports, and other information as required or requested.
- Training and Education of Work force: Provides initiative, support and content to company safety training programs.
- No direct supervisory responsibilities apply; will work closely with all areas of the company, its clients, subcontractors and vendors to achieve a safe workplace for Brubacher employees and business partners.. The Field Safety Rep. has the responsibility to stop the work if unsafe conditions or practices exist, until such time as they are resolved.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or G.E.D is required.
- Degree or diploma/certificate in Safety, Health & Environmental-related areas or highly trained in construction related SH&E matters.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to include the individual and small group level.
- Organized, attentive to details and able to adjust priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook)
- Preferred experience includes training capabilities, knowledge of safety management concepts and principles for Federal regulations specific to the construction industry i.e., OSHA, MSHA standards & DOT requirements, and experience applying this information in the construction field. Minimum 5 years in the construction field is required. Related safety and health experience is preferred.
- Insurance (Worker's Compensation and General Liability) understanding, and experience is preferred.
