We are seeking a team member to be our Human Resources Director. 

 

This is NOT a remote position.  

 

Primary Responsibilities:

The Human Resources Director is responsible for managing the Human Resources activity of the Company, including hiring, training, benefits, employee relations, policies and procedures, the employee appraisal system, job evaluation, compensation, risk and benefits administration, union negotiations, and safety.  The position involves working with executives, managers, and team members in maintaining a positive and rewarding experience for all S&L employees. Reporting to the Director is a Human Resources Business Partner, a Recruiter, and several part-time employees in receptionist and mail functions. The Director reports to the Company President.

Qualifications/Skills:

Education:

  • BS/BA degree in human behavior field
  • PHR/SPHR desirable
  • Active SHRM or EPNKC membership is desirable

Experience:

  • 10-15 years of generalist HR experience with supervisory or management level responsibility for 5 years
  • Manufacturing industry background
  • Benefits experience, including negotiating and administering health plans and 401K plans
  • Compensation experience, including job levels, ranges, job descriptions, salary guidelines, and performance appraisal system
  • Worker’s Compensation experience, including mod rates, OSHA regulations, accident reporting & prevention, and safety administration
  • Counseling and training experience
  • Preferred but not required, experience working with a Union shop labor force

  • Ability to effectively manage department operating costs, benefit and insurance program costs, and HR staff
  • Familiarity with worker’s compensation insurance, safety program design, OSHA laws, accident reporting, accident investigation, and accident prevention
  • Excellent MS Office skills including Access, Excel, and Teams Meetings
  • Familiarity with applicable labor laws and regulations, such as EEOC complaint procedures, Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA
  • Ability to make well-reasoned decisions and advise Senior Management on best practices Company policies and procedures
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Good leadership skills, direct and indirect
  • Objective, consistent in all matters, with all personnel
  • Must set an irreproachable example and be able to relate to all Company personnel
  • Familiarity with Payroll and Time Keeping Systems
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn, Indeed, and similar recruiting applications
