The Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) is looking for a new member to join its team! As a Parts Worker, you’ll be a part of the Warehouse Team within the Administrative Services Division’s Procurement and Distribution Bureau. This team is responsible for the intake and distribution of IDOT warehouse items throughout the state of Iowa.

What you will need:

  1. Works and communicates with internal and external customers to meet their needs in a polite, courteous, and cooperative manner. 
  2. Perform work related mathematical calculations involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. 
  3. Passion for customer service

 

Here is what you will do: 

  • This position will be responsible for unloading, breaking down, labeling, receipting for and storing freight using handheld barcode radios, scanners, labelers. 
  • Answer phones, electronic communication, enter data into inventory application, and communicate information about inventory and non-inventory items.
  • Sort and distribute items within the warehouse and deliver items to the correct IDOT business units located in Ames.
  • This position also operates electric pallet jacks, forklifts and various other material handling equipment.
  • Works outdoors in all types of weather conditions. 
  • Must be able to work in a high stress and fast paced work environment.    

 

Lifting:  Performs heavy manual labor for extended periods of time including lifting, bending, pulling and reaching. Lifts /lowers, carries and push/pull items weighing up to 75 pounds; team lift or mechanical assist recommended for weights over 75 pounds.

 

Shift: 8 am to 4:30 pm
