Safety and Wellness Coordinator: United Hardware in Milbank, SD is seeking a bilingual (Spanish/English) full-time Safety and Wellness Coordinator for our Human Resources Department.  Relocation assistance is available for this position.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate risk assessments and workshops
  • Facilitate safety, health, and environment audits and inspections
  • Provide guidance to management on compliance strategies
  • Apply state-of-the-art and innovative management techniques and engineering solutions
  • Enhance communications with other departments to ensure that Health & Safety policies, standards, plans and procedures are followed
  • Coordinate, monitor and audit housekeeping records, hot work permits, and equipment maintenance schedules of updates/support at all locations
  • On-going education process to keep up to date with regulatory agency rules and compliance matters
  • Track individual employee physical results
  • Proactively monitor and work with the HR Manager and Supervisor regarding employees with restrictions
  • Work with supervisors and managers to ensure incident investigations are completed thoroughly and submit Work Comp Claims to carrier
  • Co-chair the Warehouse Safety Leadership Team and manage Safety & Health efforts for Corporate
  • Promote and assist with ongoing safety & wellness communication efforts and events for both Warehouse & Corporate
  • Coordinate equipment training efforts with lead trainer
  • Schedule required training for staff such as fire drills, severe weather drills, LOTO, HazMat, and equipment license renewals
  • Coordinate wellness visits
  • Conduct New Hire Safety Orientation
  • Check and communicate air quality statistics
  • Manage Safety Supplies
  • Maintain OSHA Log
  • Update and maintain processes and procedures
  • Provide language interpretation and translation as needed
  • Must maintain high level of confidentiality with matters relating to employee and company information

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Associate’s degree and/or certifications, equivalent experience, or a combination of education and experience in a safety/wellness related function
  • OSHA 30 Hour in General Industry
  • Proficiency with computers and general office equipment, such as copiers, printers and fax machines
  • Ability to exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others, to maintain constructive working relationships
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines
