We are seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our Environmental Planning and Natural Resource Group in our Rochester office.

What You Will Do: You will work in both the field and the office to provide environmental oversight of projects in various design phases from planning to construction projects.  This could include providing early due diligence environmental review and environmental mitigation for public and private development and infrastructure projects; overseeing environmental compliance on construction and environmental mitigation projects; conducting Phase I or Phase II assessments, MPCA Voluntary Investigation and Cleanup, Agricultural Chemical Cleanup Response Act, Response Action Planning, and hazardous material surveys; and assisting with wetland assessment and delineations.  You will  collect environmental data, write technical reports, coordinate with a team, act as an owner’s representative between contractors, local, state and federal agencies and bring a collaborative attitude to your work.   Travel within the State is a requirement of this position.

What You Will Bring: The successful candidate will bring 5 or more years of experience with Phase II investigations of tank leaks, and spills, Ag-chemical releases , industrial storm water management, environmental permitting and regulation, Lead Risk Assessor Certification, Asbestos Building Inspector Certification (Asbestos Site Supervisor  preferred), and 40 hr HAZWOPER Certification.  Experience with Phase I, Phase II, environmental sampling and environmental chemistry are essential.   Experience with wetland delineation and permitting, watershed assessment, groundwater and surface water modeling is a benefit.  Experience with MPCA, Mn Dept. of Agriculture and MnDOT along with U of M Construction Site Management certification is a benefit but not required.  You will have a Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science, geology, engineering, chemistry, biology, natural resources, soil science or comparable field from an accredited school. You will also have experience with some or all of the following:  organic and inorganic chemistry, GIS, report writing, and/or working knowledge of state and federal regulations, environmental permitting, and environmental health and safety.
