What You Will Do: You will plan, design, and direct geotechnical engineering projects including client contact, field exploration program, report preparation and coordination of laboratory services. Projects range from building foundation explorations to transportation projects requiring bridge and retaining wall foundation recommendations, pavement design and tunneling evaluation. You will prepare cost and/or qualification proposals; direct field personnel in the performance of soil and rock drilling; prepare geotechnical reports including maps, drawings, aerial photographs and soil boring logs; formulate field exploration, sampling and material testing approach to address specific project issues; calculate cost estimates and judge the feasibility of projects or foundation systems based upon the subsurface conditions including dewatering, excavation of weak soils, rock excavation and settlement risk; provide advice and consult on construction project issues related to subsurface conditions and verify conformance to engineering plans, specifications, and construction and safety standards; and participate in business development activities.
Your experience level will determine the amount of independent judgment granted, the complexity of tasks performed and direct supervision received.
What You Will Bring: The successful candidate will have two or more years’ experience providing geotechnical or construction materials testing services. You will have a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field. The successful candidate must possess a valid driver’s license along with a clean driving record and have the ability to work in a variety of locations. The ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and terrains associated with construction projects is required. Our preferred candidate will have a Minnesota PE license and experience with Minnesota projects and clients.
