Summary

Due to the increase in volume in the Data Center Market, and high level of safety standards, Elder Corporation has an immediate opening for a Site Safety Manager.

 

Responsibilities

  • Organization and documentation of Daily Safety items, Daily Huddles, JHA (Job Hazard Analysis), Customer required Permits, Daily Stretch & Flex, Pre-Task Planning, Daily Job site inspections, Underground Utility Locates and verification.
  • Attendance at all Customer Sponsored Safety Meetings
  • Engagement in Site Safety Team Meetings.
  • Management of Site Logistics in relationship to work zones and maintenance of the areas.
  • Ensure management and lead personnel are aware of the safety requirements and enlist their help to guarantee it is followed by other employees.
  • Respond to safety hazards to address potential issues.
  • Ensure and monitor continual safety improvements to set annual objectives and targets
  • Leadership of Junior Level Safety Internship and Mentorship program.
  • QAQC documentation and logging and uploading assistance as required.
  • Organization and Submittals of customer required paperwork.
  • All other items and submittals as required by the owner and client
  • Coordinate with Owner/GC requirements/initiatives as needed.

Required Skills

  • Basic knowledge and involvement with FMCSA, DOT, DNR, MSHA and OSHA regulatory requirements (both state and federal level)
  • Strong decision-making and employee relations skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Organization and time management skills
  • Detail-oriented with advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Current certification in first aid, CPR, AED
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in construction health and safety
  • Academic degree in Health and Safety Or a minimum certification through the Board of Safety Professionals (BCSP) of Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)
    • OR confirm admission and schedule to attain accreditation (must be certified within 1 year)

 

Preferred Skills

  • General underground utility industry experience
  • General excavations experience
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, preferred but will train
  • Familiarity with Iowa One Call procedures
  • Understanding of workers’ compensation and EEO regulatory requirements
  • Experience training employees on safety-related procedures
  • Ability to be an effective leader and strong negotiator with safety professionals, and regulatory and/or industry organizations
