STRATA provides our clients with professional geotechnical engineering, construction inspection, and material testing services throughout the intermountain west. Currently, STRATA has offices in Boise, Hayden, Idaho Falls, Twin Falls, and Pocatello, Idaho; and Spokane, Washington.  We currently have an Internship available in our Pocatello office. 

We are currently seeking a college Sophomore, Junior or Senior to join us as a half-time to full-time Intern (20-40+ hours per week).    

Job Description/Summary

We provide opportunities for students who are currently pursuing education in the related earth sciences, engineering, drafting and other fields to obtain hands-on experience. STRATA’s Intern program provides translates classroom theories into practical application. Our Intern program can be a gateway into employment with STRATA after graduation. 

Interns begin training and performing work under the direction of project managers, field, and staff professionals. Interns receive hands-on experience with exploration, soil, concrete, aggregate and asphalt, both in the laboratory and field. Interns will be exposed to and accomplish field observation, testing, sampling and inspection of construction materials. Our information is relayed to various team members and governing officials through documented site visits and communication directly with clients and contractors; thus, written and verbal communication skills are critical.

Job Requirements/Qualifications

Qualified Interns will have college-level coursework in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, and ideally, Geotechnical Engineering, or possess other relevant certifications or experience which align with our business.  

Interns will be familiar with using a Personal Computer, specifically Microsoft Office software and accurate keyboarding in order to compose reports, prepare their timesheet, etc.

A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record will be required as well as the ability to pass the pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screens.

As our clients' expectations are often dynamic, working variable and overtime hours will be expected, including weekends and some evenings.  Good attendance and arriving promptly to complete field work is a requirement.

Interns participate in development and learning activities and may include the opportunity to study and pass certifications (e.g., ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade 1).

Interns will be paid 8 hours for any STRATA-designated holidays that occur during the internship.
