STRATA enhances the quality of life within our communities by providing our clients with professional geotechnical engineering, construction inspection and material testing (CMT) services throughout the intermountain west.  We have a Project Engineer position available in our Spokane, Washington office.  

The Project Engineer will successfully complete geotechnical engineering proposals and projects and build excellent client relationships.  Works diligently to minimize liability in accordance with STRATA's Mission/Vision Statement and Core Values. Works with a team of geotechnical engineering professionals across a wide range of markets (e.g., commercial, education, health care, transportation, energy, industrial).  Be involved with managing geotechnical engineering explorations including performing boring layouts, clearing utilities, performing, directing, and supervising field explorations, performing geophysical surveys, classifying soil, assigning laboratory testing, and preparing geotechnical deliverables such as reports, geotechnical analyses and calculations, and presentations. Prepare proposals for a wide range of projects and for local, municipal, and federal clients. Enjoy working in the field completing field investigations, construction observations, and on-site consultation.  Assist entry-level engineers with technical research and mentoring.

A qualified Project Engineer will: 

Complete project management responsibilities including procurement, training, planning, assigning and directing work, and resolving issues.  
Possess and communicate well in verbal and written form as they communicate effectively, accurately, and professionally with clients, contractors, supervisors, and team members.
Have the ability to coach and mentor staff that have varied skills, knowledge, and experience.
Demonstrate great organization skills and the ability to move efficiently and effectively from one project to the next with initiative.
Apply reasonable judgment and understanding.
Foster a collaborative culture as a team leader.

Professional Qualifications and Requirements:

BS in Civil Engineering (MS in Geotechnical Engineering preferred).
P.E. registration preferred (or can be obtained within ~12 months of hire).
5-10 years of progressive experience in the field of geotechnical engineering.
Experience with geotechnical software including gINT, SLOPE/W, SEEP/W, LPILE, MSEW, and GRLWEAP.
Proficiency using personal computer and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Adherence to STRATA’s drug and alcohol policy.
Travel as necessary to support offices and projects.

Washington State requirement beginning 1.1.2023:  The salary range for this position depends upon years of experience and a P.E. We expect to pay a new employee between $66,000-$80,000 as base salary for this position.
