PROJECT MANAGER PRAIRIE LANDWORKS

JOB DESCRIPTION:

As a project manager with Prairie Landworks, you will lead PLI projects from start to finish. The Project Manager role is crucial in the successful completion of a project from prebid meetings to final walk. A successful PLI Project manager will effectively manage preconstruction efforts, project budgets, scheduling, relationships with subs/vendors and field superintendents. A PLI Project Manager has a proactive and creative approach to problem solving while keeping the customers best interest in mind.

 

PLI project managers will model their leadership roles based on company core values of safety, productivity and efficiency. You will lead the project team to a successful completion of the assigned project

 

Responsibilities:

Culture:

  • Reinforce and maintain PLI’s corporate values and commitment to safety on all our jobsites. Coordinate with the safety director to ensuring we are doing all we can to make sure all our employees go home safe and healthy.
  • Create an environment of teamwork on all PLI projects with superintendents, subs, vendors, owner representatives and design professionals so all involved drive toward a project’s successful completion.
  • Work with our team of estimators to secure future work.
  • Always represent PLI and its divisions in a professional manner

Communication

  • Create project schedules and maintain throughout the project. Maintain open communication with superintendents to keep schedules updated and accurate to completed work and required project milestones.
  • Participate in routine staff meetings with superintendents, Project Managers, Estimating and Management team to discuss labor needs, backlog and work schedules.
  • Work with superintendents to establish job specific training and safety information and standards. Ensure pre-job meetings on jobsites with employees and subs are completed daily.
  • Manage project communication, including submittals, subcontracts, change orders and purchase orders in a timely manner.

  Project Finances:

  • Create projections and forecasts with the project team to reflect upcoming costs for successful and timely completion of assigned projects.
  • Effectively manage budget process by updating work to be completed and current budget resources in a timely manner.

 Job Completion:

  • Begin the close out process before job completion.
  • Initiate final PLI walk with field superintendent to generate punch list prior to owner final walk.
  • Plan, coordinate, and lead final walk with owner or owner representative. Address any punch list items from walk in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all pay applications and retaining billings are submitted in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or science or other equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • OSHA 10, 30 hour certification preferred
  • Proficient in common Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), knowledge of accounting and construction software (Procore, Acumatica) preferred. Knowledge in the use of laptops, smartphones, tablets and copier
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, Safety, SDS regulations, methods, materials, tools and equipment commonly used in construction along with building codes/requirements.
  • Ability to interpret business documents, blueprints, procedures, regulations and specifications.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and successfully manage multiple ongoing projects in various stages of completion
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with coworkers, vendors, subcontractors and clients.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.

Working conditions:

  • A successful Project Manager at PLI spends time in both the office setting and on the jobsite as required to manage project effectively and must be able to traverse uneven ground in all environmental conditions (Hot, Cold, Wet, Muddy and Icy) without assistance.
  • 45-50 hour workweek, project demands may require more time on occasion
