Equipment Maintenance Mechanic: United Hardware in Milbank, SD is seeking a full-time Equipment Maintenance Mechanic.  The weekly work schedule for this position is Tuesday - Friday 6:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Overtime as required.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Monitor part and supply inventories
  • Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests
  • Attend training courses as needed to stay abreast of proper repair and maintenance skills for warehouse and power equipment
  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of warehouse equipment
  • Performs diversified duties to install and maintain equipment
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
  • Perform and document regular preventive maintenance on machines and equipment
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of equipment
  • Serve as an active member of Safety Committee
  • Provide input into project plans and complete predetermined projects in a timely manner, meeting or exceeding necessary deadlines
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
  • Backup support in the absence of other maintenance personnel
  • Display a working knowledge of the fire supervision system and perform system inspections and repairs on a routine or emergency basis

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Familiar with State/Federal and Health regulations (OSHA)
  • Experience in understanding and recognizing safety hazards
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to measure and calculate material and system requirements, prepare materials list
  • Proficient in the use of hand power tools
  • Ability to execute action plans
  • Must maintain forklift certified training
  • Warehouse or manufacturing experience; strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, and industrial skills
