Join our team as an Associate Estimator and participate in a collaborative and friendly Estimating Department! In this role, you will work alongside experienced estimators, contributing to estimating and budgeting. Your responsibilities will include performing assigned tasks precisely and efficiently to ensure our bids are timely, awardable, and profitable. As an Associate Estimator, you will play a vital role in maintaining an organized and up-to-date database. You'll work with software such as Planswift for takeoff and B2W for estimating and bidding. Your tasks will range from troubleshooting to expanding and updating pricing information.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review bid documents (i.e., invite, specifications, etc.) for pertinent project information such as labor rates/wage requirements, Inclusivity & local hire requirements, locations/agencies, and other potential "go/no-go" metrics.
- Interpret and analyze contract documents regarding terms, specifications, clarifications, and requirements for each project.
- Review trade/scope-related specifications to confirm material types and spec/plan harmony/conformance.
- Review soils report to identify soil type and potential risks (rock, groundwater, hazardous waste) and log in OneNote/excel for Estimator review.
- Perform Material Takeoffs for vendor/sub solicitation.
- Import bid items into B2W from the database & input material items into bid items.
- Request and review material & subcontractor quotes/bids promptly.
- Receive and log all bid addendums, bulletins, deltas, etc. and review for potential impacts.
- Prepare and follow up on RFI's and log them.
- Interact with customers/clients on fundamental issues.
- Prepare a basic estimate/proposal and send it if requested/required.
- Meet with Chief Estimator, as requested.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with the key vendors/subs.
- Additional responsibilities as directed by department & corporate management
- Manage B2W, Planswift databases
- Check-in with Chief Estimator & Sr./Lead Estimators on workload & individual bid progress
- Follow-up on current bids
- Check-in w/ all department personnel regarding B2W & Planswift database(s) current state & functionality
- Attend Pre-Bid meetings & job walks as required.
- Attend turnover & Estimating Department Meetings.
- Meet with clients, vendors, subs & other trade partners.
- Assist with job turnover/start-up procedures.
- Request & input database material price updates
- Update/add to B2W database as necessary and planswift to match
- Troubleshoot/fix B2W/Planswift as required
- Manage "push" process on awarded projects (Bid to Build)
Experience, Education & Skills
- Civil Engineering or Construction Management Degree or an equivalent combination of skills and abilities
- Proficient in MS Office, advanced Excel skills, and ability to learn industry-specific software
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
- Analytical Skills & Attention to detail
- Ability to work well with others
- Thorough knowledge & experience working with takeoff & estimating software (Planswift, B2W, etc.)
Working Conditions
- Office Environment – sitting at a desk, physical requirements, such as climbing, standing, stooping, or typing. Ability to lift 5-20 pounds occasionally.
