Announcing Construction Laborer Training Opportunity

 

Applications of interest are currently being accepted to participate in a training program in partnership with The South Central Laborers Construction Training Program.   This organization will be conducting a free training opportunity for a class of up to 25 individuals from the local area from March 30, 2015 – May 14, 2015.  This learning opportunity combines hands-on activities with classroom instruction for up to 25 individuals from the local area.  The goal of this program is to provide basic training in Safety including OSHA 10, First Aid CPR, General Construction, Pipelaying, Hoisting & Rigging, Concrete, Asphalt, Erosion/Storm Water Runoff Control and Work Zone Flagging in green construction techniques that reduce pollution and minimize storm water run-off.

Qualified trainees will be selected by representatives of the South Central Laborers Training Program and Boh Bros. to participate in this program.  All trainees must be drug-free, currently unemployed and have a strong interest in obtaining basic job skills that may enable them to obtain future employment in the construction industry.  Boh Bros. will NOT guarantee employment upon completion.

The training program requires a commitment of seven (7) consecutive weeks/ 4 - 10-hour shifts per week of skills training beginning on March 30, 2015 and ending May 14, 2015. Class begins daily at 6:00 a.m. and concludes at 4:30 p.m. Participants will be given a weekly stipend for their participation. Transportation to the facility will be provided by the Laborer’s Training Fund.   However, transportation to the pick-up location will not be provided.  The pick-up location is 3400 Tulane Ave, New Orleans.  Lunch will be provided as well as the required Personal Protective Equipment at no cost to the participant.
