Blue Stone Therapy was founded in 2009 and provides contract physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language pathology to communities in Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota. We are currently seeking an Accountant to join our team at the home office in Urbandale, IA.
The Accountant provides support to the finance department by performing daily accounting tasks; including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and assisting with the development of process improvements.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Perform general bookkeeping tasks such as verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
- Performs account analyses and reconciles selected expense and revenue accounts.
- Prepares assigned recurring and non-recurring journal entries for the month-end closing process.
- Processing of accounts payable transactions in the financial system and timely completion of payments. This includes invoices, travel expenses, check requests, and any other transactions necessary to remit accurate payment to vendors and employees.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations: identifying, researching, and resolving problematic transactions.
- Receive, post, and monitor accounts receivable payments and outstanding balances.
- Performs analytical reviews, research, and other related duties independently.
- Serves as backup support for payroll and other office administration team members.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Associate’s Degree in accounting or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential responsibilities of the job.
- Minimum of three (3) years of Accounting experience.
- Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience with account preparation, review, and control methods.
- Knowledge of general ledger reporting and data entry techniques.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Net Health/Optima experience preferred.
