We are currently seeking a Herbicide Sprayer / Pesticide Applicator to join our team.
Essential Functions
- Applies chemical herbicide and/or pesticide to right-of-way following brush removal, utilizing hose and spray nozzle from truck-mounted spray equipment, which includes tank, pump, hose reel, 200 feet of 5/8 inch hose, and/or utilizing a backpack in remote areas.
- Services truck and equipment, maintaining them in neat, clean, and specified mechanical order.
- Mixes herbicide in holding tank and fills injection tubes or assists spray crew Foreperson with mixing herbicide and filling tank.
- Drives truck to specified areas where trees require treatment. Unloads injector pack and tools from truck.
- Pulls wheeled cart (dolly) carrying injection unit into areas of brush to treat trees.
- Operates a small power drill, which weighs less than 10 pounds. Drills holes into base of trees, places a probe from the chemical injector tank into the hole, and switches on the injector to treat trees.
- Works around hazardous equipment
- Works in all temperatures and weather and will be exposed to nature, i.e., irritating plants and biting or stinging insects, dust, etc.
- Works on unlevel ground
Minimum Requirements
- Must be able to wear necessary PPE as necessary.
- Must obtain and maintain appropriate license(s).
- Must be able to write, read and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information.
- Must be able to communicate with others.
- Must be able to maintain balance over uneven terrain.
- Must be able to carry backpack and hoses for several hours.
- Must have endurance necessary to perform these duties throughout a standard eight or ten hour day.
- Must have sufficient eyesight to judge distances and coordination to spray proper area.
- Must be able to operate and service all required tools and equipment.
- Must have transportation to and from the show up location.
- Must pass a background check based on region guidelines.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Must be willing to join the local union.
