Safety Coordinator – Electrical
ColonialWebb is seeking a Bilingual Safety Coordinator to support our safety culture and uphold our exceptional safety efforts for our Central Virginia Electrical business. A day in the life:
- Coach and teach safety best practices and behaviors that prevent injury
- Conduct site assessments to ensure working conditions are safe for our employees
- Assist the employees and management of the site in the enforcement of the safety procedures within the Safety and Risk Program to ensure state and federal OSHA compliance in the field and reduce the risk of employee injury
- Coordinate all tasks and functions on site to ensure they are performed safely in accordance with company safety policies and procedures and OSHA standards
- Sustain safe operations by conducting site visits/inspections of facilities, work areas and equipment; observing and documentation employee work practices and improving safety preparedness
- Identify corrective actions necessary to bring job sites into compliance with applicable codes, laws, regulations, and standards, and explain these measures to others
- Inspect the availability, readiness and proper use of required accident prevention procedures, safety and fire prevention equipment, protective clothing and devices, and first aid supplies
- Identify and recommend safety equipment, material and supplies for work operations
- Attend and participate in safety committee meetings with sites and general contractors/customers; serve as a source of information on health and safety issues
- Assist in reporting and investigating workers compensation and general liability claims
- Conduct and/or assist with job hazard analysis
You should have:
- Experience with electrical work (mechanical is a plus)
- Ability to speak Spanish is bonus
- Possess at least 3 years’ experience working in the safety field in a construction setting
- Ability and willingness to travel to multiple job and customer sites
- Demonstrate working and practical knowledge of NFPA 70E
- Possess OSHA 30 certification (minimum) or willingness to obtain
- Possesses any of the following: CSST, STS, and CHST(preferred, but not required)
- Possess High School Diploma or equivalent
- Possess current First Aid/CPR/AED certification
- Ability to learn and enforce current corporate policies and procedures
- Knowledge of and ability to enforce current Federal and Virginia Occupational Safety & Health regulations
- Knowledge of and/or ability to learn and enforce current US Army Corps of Engineers Safety program
- Knowledge of and/or ability to learn and enforce safe operations of construction equipment (train the trainer certifications are a plus)
