The Project Designer position operates at the JTS Modular, Inc. corporate office located in Bakersfield, CA. This position reports to the Design Manager and manages the complete design process by maintaining schedules for each design project. Responsible for the conversion of architectural designs, engineered plans, rough sketches, and technical drawings to create detailed construction drawings, per each bid document, that will pass the inspection of Division of State Architect (DSA) or Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) while maintaining JTS Modular, Inc. quality standards.

Essential Functions:

  • Operate Revit and CADD programs to produce designs and working drawings.
  • Draw plans for buildings and structures based on preliminary concepts, sketches, specification sheets, California Building Code (CBC), contract, proposals, and information gathered from the project kick-off meeting.
  • Coordinate structural, electrical, and mechanical designs and determine a method of presentation to graphically represent building plans.
  • Analyze building codes, by-laws, space and site requirements, and other technical documents and reports to determine their effect on architectural designs.
  • Communicates with the Building Information Designer (BIM Designer), Estimator, Project Managers, and affiliate architects, and engineers throughout the design process. The completion and revision of drawings and cut sheets for construction projects utilizing the change management process as well as the quality control process.
  • Print, prepare, and organize physical paper drawings as needed.
  • Administer design revisions throughout the design process responding to Requests for Information (RFI’s), providing quick and accurate answers.
  • May be tasked with freehand drawing and lettering, if/when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate of Science Degree in Industrial Drawing with Two (2) years’ experience OR
  • Four (4) years of substantially similar work experience in lieu of the aforementioned degree
  • Superior knowledge of Revit & Computer Aided Drafting Design (CADD) systems
  • Division of State Architect (DSA) experience is beneficial
  • Must be self-disciplined and work independently and within design team
  • Must be detail oriented and dedicated to a high standard of work
  • Superior analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to succinctly communicate cross-functionally with internal and external contacts
  • Exceptional record keeping abilities

Annual pay range $64,480-$67,840 DOE
