GENERAL LEADPERSON, AGGREGATES – Carnesville Quarry

CARNESVILLE, GA

COMPENSATION: $27.00 - $30.00/hour

SUMMARY

The General Leadperson position is an essential part of our Georgia Stone Products quarry operations, reporting to the General Foreman. The site Leadperson is responsible for safely and effectively operating the plant, recognizing, and pointing out potential concerns of safety, risk, and/or equipment malfunction. Managing processes and assisting team members to ensure optimum production.  Needing attention to detail and the ability to multi-task, this position covers the oversight of many moving parts, while also being able to supervise various roles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise and direct the work of site personnel, ensuring safety compliance and proper placement of resources.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations.
  • Operate and monitor the plant equipment to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Conduct fixed and mobile equipment routine inspections and resolve/mitigate all safety and operating concerns, as well as ensure plant/site 5S.
  • Maintain strong customer and supplier relationships.
  • Assist with inventory control and ordering of supplies.
  • Maintain accurate records of production, maintenance activities and inventory.
  • Work with Plant Manager and Foreman to develop and implement strategies to optimize plant performance and reduce costs.
  • Perform quality control testing on materials and update records, as necessary.
  • Assist with interviewing and hiring process, as necessary.
  • Train and mentor site hourly personnel to ensure they are equipped to perform their duties safely and effectively. 

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in aggregate plant operations
  • Strong knowledge of aggregate plant equipment, including crushers, screens, and conveyors.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to get work done through others using effective delegation, scheduling, and time management practices.
  • Ability to display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
  • Must be reliable and willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in the English language.
  • Must have basic computer and math skills,
  • Must be able to comply with all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards and expectations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems, troubleshoot, and work with your hands as needed. 

Applicants must be 21 years of age to drive a commercial vehicle and 20 years of age for all other vehicles; a valid driver's license and company-approved driving record are required if authorized to drive either a company or personal vehicle for business purposes.
