Position Summary
The Assistant Piping Manager is responsible for assisting the Piping Manager in planning, directing, and coordinating all piping related activities and coordinating piping subcontractor activities. Participate in the conceptual development of a construction project and oversee its organization, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation. This position is deemed ‘safety sensitive’ due to the fact that a person improperly performing the essential or marginal functions of the job would constitute a threat to the health or safety of the employee, the employee’s co-workers, and/or the public at large.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assistance with field supervision of construction.
- Assume overall responsibilities for project execution of assigned projects.
- Must promote, enforce and establish safety as a priority.
- Initiate, establish and maintain working relationships with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, or design professionals to facilitate construction activities and progress.
- Assist with planning, scheduling or coordinating piping activities to meet deadlines.
- Assist with preparing and submitting budget estimates, progress reports, or cost tracking reports.
- Assist with inspecting or reviewing projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, or other regulations.
- Assist with reviewing change orders requests for validity and assist in review for presentation to owner
- May be responsible for assisting in quoting new work by preparing detailed job bids.
- Provide assistance for those responsible for reporting productivity and activities to the project management team.
- Assist with reviewing and approving subcontractor billings to the client, as well as manage client payables.
- Assist with organizing and managing all aspects of client interaction and communication.
- Assist in the management of the project closeout process.
- The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required.
Qualifications
Willingness to learn and contribute to the management of piping related projects. Good oral communication skills. Must be knowledgeable of the company safety policy and familiar and willing to comply with the Quality Control program. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with Primavera Scheduling software is a plus.
Physical Demands
Must be able to climb to heights in excess of 100 feet and able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally. Must be able to work in extreme temperatures. Considerable amounts of overtime required. Some travel to outages and other job sites required. Must have ability to stand/walk frequently. Must be able to sit, reach outward/above shoulder, climb, crawl, and squat or bend occasionally. Must be able to push/pull weight up to 40 lbs. occasionally. All the physical demands listed are essential functions.
