Truesdell Corporation is currently seeking a Field Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our Eastern Region team based out of Garner, North Carolina to assist in maintaining vehicles and equipment used for Bridge Maintenance Projects.   This candidate will be able to travel within North Carolina and also to other states for approximately 2 weeks at a time, be a hard worker, and be able to maintain trucks,  paving machines, and other various pieces of heavy and small engine equipment related to bridge overlays and maintenance.   Our ideal candidate will enjoy travel, working on equipment, learning new skills, working with our fast-paced team and is excited about the opportunity to advance within our company.

 Responsibilities:

  • You will be part of traveling bridge repair and maintenance teams
  • Coordinate repair and replacement of parts in vehicles and construction equipment.
  • Inspect machines, heavy equipment, and diagnose issues.
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on vehicles and construction equipment.
  • Repair or overhaul mobile, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
  • Test products, vehicles, and equipment after repair.
  • You will be driving a company truck and towing equipment.
  • You will be working night or day shifts.
  • Every project has different requirements, a typical shift is 8-10 hours.
  • You will be required to follow all safety practices and conduct yourself professionally at all times. 

 

Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel full-time out of state
  • Must have advanced knowledge of diesel engine components, small gasoline engines, generators, and hydraulic systems.
  • Must have degree or diploma in mechanical or automotive engineering (relevant experience permitted)
  • Must have diagnostic skills
  • Must have a valid driver's license for two+ years 
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen and physical 
  • Must be able to perform physical labor and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work variable shifts, nights and weekends when necessary.
