POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a visionary and results-oriented Vice President of Manufacturing to lead our Baer Manufacturing Operations and play a key role in driving Hunt Electric's continued growth and success. This strategic leadership position reports directly to the COO for the remainder of 2024 and will transition to reporting directly to the CEO on January 1, 2025. This position is responsible for developing and executing manufacturing strategies that ensure high-quality products, on-time delivery, and exceptional customer satisfaction. You will oversee all aspects of manufacturing operations, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement while building a high-performing team.
Specific Roles and Responsibilities are:
- Perform strategic planning and execution to enhance profitability, productivity, and efficiency throughout the manufacturing operations, while achieving a high level of safety and efficiency.
- Provide direction to the team to increase revenue and improve employee product/industry knowledge and training.
- Build, develop and manage the manufacturing staff, including making employment hiring and termination decisions, completing performance reviews, developing training plans and managing employee issues.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and new customers and community leaders.
- Implement processes and systems that will generate higher productivity and revenues.
- Recommend strategies for improvement based on market research and competitor analyses.
- Interact regularly with the executive team and individual department heads to ensure that the manufacturing priorities are aligned with the company direction.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute comprehensive manufacturing strategies aligned with Hunt Electric's overall business objectives.
- Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify emerging trends and opportunities for growth in the manufacturing sector.
- Develop an understanding of our industry to aid in new product introduction.
- Lead the development of long-term manufacturing plans that optimize efficiency, productivity, and profitability.
- Foster a culture of innovation within the manufacturing department, encouraging continuous improvement and process optimization.
- Develop strategic customer partnerships to ensure alignment with manufacturing capabilities and drive growth.
- Translate company goals into actionable plans for Baer Manufacturing.
- Financial Management
- Meet quarterly with the ELT to set/measure annual projection goals.
- Collaborate with other VP’s on a monthly basis to keep apprised of upcoming work.
- Conduct monthly Work-in-Progress (WIP) reviews with Production Managers.
- Receive and assess Budget Updates from the Production Managers.
- Conduct Qlik Project Review.
- Engage in Project Executive Review.
- Perform Monthly Projections, Forecasting, and Budget Tracking, including CSR review and Spectrum Updates.
- Develop overall equipment effectiveness measurements.
- Staffing Oversight
- Oversee hiring and recruiting in collaboration with the Production Managers.
- Provide training and mentoring for office staff.
- Coordinate with the Bloomington Office when additional assistance is required.
- Develop the manufacturing workforce to support future strategic initiatives.
- Business Development
- Establish annual goals and projections.
- Actively promote manufacturing in all branches and other departments.
- Foster collaboration between Headquarters, Branch Offices and Manufacturing.
- Participate in major estimate/proposal reviews before submission.
- Industry Engagement
- Actively participate in community-based organizations, alongside Business Development and Operations Manager.
- Work in coordination with the Operations Manager to interact with Local Union 14.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- History of leadership experience with proven significant organizational contributions.
- 20+ years of operations experience in the manufacturing industry (preferably related to construction and/of electrical).

- Experience in driving accountability for financial and operational effectiveness, integrating and aligning efforts across departments, monitoring results and tackling problems directly.
- Ability to cultivate and grow lasting business relationships both internally and externally.
- Able to negotiate and communicate complex concepts/business issues to a variety of audiences and have a proven track record of developing new business through an established network of relationships in the industry.
- Ability to dive to the core of complex issues and provide insightful and constructive feedback.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, filing cabinets, photocopiers, and fax machines.
- This position operates at a construction job site and is exposed to moving mechanical parts, vibration, and noise, possibly requiring closed toed shoes, as well as occasional use of a hard hat and eye protection.
- Employees are frequently required to sit, and occasionally required to kneel, reach, stoop, crouch, or crawl.
- This position requires the ability to lift files, open file cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary.
- This position may occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
